    Uses for holster?

    Hey guys,
Just a quick newbie question here. Just wondering if you guys all have holsters for your handguns and what you use them for? Mine is essentially a range gun and Home Defense weapon (I only have one). Just wondering if a holster is really necessary/beneficial? Thanks for the input!

no really needed unless you carry daily. Mine just sits in a drawer unless I play swat team when my wife and kid is out.

Unless you plan to compete, go to training courses, or carry (concealed or in your house), I don't see an immediate need for a holster. If all your handgun will be for is HD and range, then really it should be either in your safe, on your nightstand, or in a case on the way to the range. Also, some ranges allow holster draw. That could be another factor as well.

I have holsters for all my guns except for range purpose firearms. I have it because I use those guns for my daily carry purpose.

might as well get one, I'm going to get one and the only times I'm going to use it is when I'm home alone and when I'm out on BLM land

I usually have some sort of holster to fit each of my pistols. Probably never will need it for most of them, but a holster (and mag carrier) is one of those "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it" items.

Really, how are you going to carry your pistol once we have the Great Zombie Apocalypse?

a lot of people actually carry, on their person, while at home. Often because they have a family and the gun is much more secure on them, than laying around somewhere convenient.

Most of mine are for ccw. But I do have a Galco Pocket Protector because it down make a great cover my my Glock when it's just laying on my desk or coffee table while I'm home (no kids around). I can drop it in my pocket to run to the store, or take out the trash. Not something I want to have in my pocket all day, but it's sure a convenience.

I have holsters for all of my guns. They are useful for the following reasons:
If you go shooting where you can keep your firearm on you
If shoot where there is no table/rest
                  If you carry anywhere
If you keep your gun in a nightstand
If you travel with your gun in a duffle bag
                  Etc

I keep all of my guns in holsters in the safe and in the bed side container (I use a magnetic MC tank bag stuck to the side of my safe) as well as everywhere I take my guns. They are great for keeping things from getting in to the trigger area without using a gun rug.

I have them for all of mine. Many holsters for different carry positions; shoulder holster, hip holster, cross draw (especially for long barreled guns), and inside the pants concealment holsters. Some interchange with other handguns, as well.

I'm retired and I spend a lot of time in the outdoors. Exploring, shooting and camping are the prime consumers. Being alone in the desert or mountains requires a holstered handgun for personal protection.

I have a slide holster for my 1911, the best part is it fits most of my pistols and my garden clippers.

Since I shoot primarily at private property I use my holsters to hold my guns while changing targets ect. When I'm shooting and guns are out I ALWAYS have at least a loaded handgun on my person in a holster. Also try some Run-an-gun without a holster...

Yer average person should get some training befor drawing and firing from a holster just look at Tex Grubner's youtube video. Front sight is where I went an loved it!!

When you answer your door is it really gonna help if its on the other side of the room and you need it? It's not a home defense gun unless I carry it or keep it in the nightstand. I don't want anything to even have a chance to get inside that trigger guard while in the nightstand. Just my opinion
