    Revolver availability?

So with all this frenzy buying and banning with assault weapons, whats the supply of revolvers like? Their not banning those right?
Thinking of picking up my first 357 mag. Mainly for range fun.
    Any suggestions? Prices?

Off topic, but i'm also looking for a 12 pump action gauge (for skeet and hd).

Went to Turners the other day but was packed and racks looked kinda bare, didn't want to wait and take a number.

Cashier told me that they put some of their BB guns up on the rack so it wouldn't look so empty.

Plenty of revolvers and shotguns to chose from. Prices are great since people are selling those to fund semi-auto handgun and rifle purchases.

Purchased a stainless steel 4in ruger gp100 for $475 out the door.

I went to few local gun stores just for fun few days ago. They had plenty of revolvers in their show case.

I was in Turner's West Covina store this afternoon. While not looking for guns, just a quick browse of the case showed they had a decent supply of various guns on display. I did happen to notice a Ruger GP 100 with a price tag of $569.00. Happens to be my favorite gun and glad I bought it some time back for considerably less.

I have to ask the poster Robidouxs where he found a Ruger for $475 out the door! Where? I see he is in Arizona. With Cali tax, FFL fee and DROS you are probably looking at the same gun setting you back $650 now days.

Dad is shopping but all the gun stores in his neighborhood (Santa Barbara) are sold out of EVERYTHING other than a 2.5" .38 revolver. I advised him to hold off for a 4" .357 (S&W or Ruger) when the crazies back off. Till then he has my 686 on loan...

For a .357 Revolver, I would take a look at Ruger if you are on a budget. If you do not mind saving up, S&W is worth it in my opinion.

I've been drooling over a S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum, my local turners had one in stock recently. I almost bought it but couldn't at the time. Now that I am all saved up and my B-day is around the corner I want one bad.

For HD, I Love my Mossberg 500A w/Hogue Pistol Grip. If you are using it for HD/Skeet make sure your shotgun comes with two barrels etc. I would hands down buy a Remington 870.

If you ever come to Tucson go visit Murphy's Guns and Gunsmithing, They probably have close to 200+ used semi-auto handguns. Family run shop with great people and and awesome supply of guns that constantly rotates. Right now there are 11 used Beretta 92 FS in the case, lol. They have surplus ammo crates of California 10 round magazines and standard capacity magazines. No one buys the 10 rounders so you would have plenty to choose from.

I'm trying to wait out the panic for a S&W 625. Glad to hear revolvers are the anti-assault weapon. What with those paltry 6 rounds you have to insert by hand!

As much as I want to get a wheel gun correct me if I am wrong I'm new to the wheel gun I have 3 outher pistols.. The rugers don't have the internal lock like the s&w.. As much as I will like to own a s&w I would go for a ruger for that reason

If it's just for fun at the range, I'd consider a Taurus. IIRC, they are similar in design to S&W's but they are cheaper. The fit and finish isn't as good as S&W or Rugers, but it's price is a lot lower. QC may be an issue. On my Raging Bull 44 mag, the ejector rod came loose and fell out so I had to return it for repair (they have a lifetime warranty btw). In terms of accuracy, it's dead on and the price is great. For me this was just a fun range gun as well, so I didn't want to spend close to a grand for a S&W version.

I think I see Turners sell their Taurus 357's on sale for somewhere in the $450-$499 range IIRC.

                    Good luck.

Revolvers are not fool proof and they do jam or fail occasionally. to think they are more reliable than todays semi-autos is nieve. Drop a Glock 17 and a Ruger GP100 in the mud and see for yourself which is more reliable.

My ruger SP flat out jamed and I couldn't open the cylinder, live rounds still in the gun. I don't own any revolvers anymore.

While i find this to be 100% correct, i still love revolvers and am constantly looking to build my collection. I dont feel the need to have more than 1 glock, but i still buy every smith i can get my hands on.

                              Pretty much my sentiment.
