    Steyr handgun?

Interested in looking at and possibly trying out a Steyr M40-A1, but can't seem to find a dealer in East Bay area. Any thoughts or advice?

They are off list so you won't find many dealers who have them. You can call around a few ranges or find someone who has one already for you to try. Those are probably your only options.

Steyr has no handguns on the CA Roster.

Apparently they let their fee's lapse. Possibly becuase they had made significant changes to their firearms which would have required retesting. With retesting the newer requirements such as magazine disconnect and loaded chamber indicator are required. Same reason we still have Glock Gen 3's but no Gen 4's.

Your best option is to find one used locally as a face to face PPT does not consult the roster.

Or do an interfamily gift transfer.

I got one when they were on roster. It's one of my favorite .40 pistols- the low bore axis makes it kick like a 9mm. The sights aren't bad once you get used to them.
