Can I Use Fedex Office Print & Ship Center To Ship A Handgun?

I need to send a pistol to a FFL, and have worked it out so that the only step remaining is to use either UPS or Fedex to ship it.

From the web searches, I have found some people saying that Fedex Office Print & Ship Center (or formerly known as Fedex Kinko) is not allowed to ship firearms. But then I also found others( such as one in this link, or this one) who say otherwise. I have also looked up the company policies for UPS and Fedex. While UPS does indeed specify types of UPS places that can ship firearms, I could not find such a thing from Fedex. My phone is broken, so I couldn't directly contact Fedex.

Since I am in a bit of hurry, it will be great if Fedex Office can actually ship firearms because I wouldn't have to wait until Monday as UPS Customer Center near my place is closed during the weekends, while Fedex Office is open for 24/7. I will appreciate it if anyone can confirm whether or not Fedex Office can ship firearms, or can share an experience dealing with them.

I believe FedEx Office can. FedEx's corporate policy says FedEx-staffed locations, and a FedEx Office qualifies as that. Examples of places that don't would be various neighborhood 'ship and copy' type places that have FedEx pick-ups and can ship packages FedEx for you, but have no FedEx employees on staff. You can always just go to a 24/7 FedEx Office and ask them.

My opinion, though, is that it's fine.

Alternatively, it might actually be less expensive to go to an FFL and have them ship it for you. They can ship a handgun USPS Priority Mail, which is $11 in a Medium Flat Rate Box. FedEx will make you ship it overnight and it will probably run you $60. The FFL might charge you like $20 for their trouble, but you'll still come out ahead AND you'll be 100% sure that everything is legal.

I sent a rifle one time. They said it needed to be expedited because if the content. It was overnighted for about 100 bucks.

Kind of a rip off, but I was in a hurry and it needed to be sent. It made it there the next day.

I also sent a handgun to the manufacturer in FLA. It was a small pack and send place. The guy was totally cool. I even paid for it to be insured. It made it to the destination, no prob.

If you are not doing a FFL transfer find a local gun shop that will send via US Postal office and they can send it as cheap as $40-$45. Let them know that you're sending to another ffl for some work. Just finished doing the same thing for a gun i sent out to Arizona for some 1911 work.

That stinks! Long guns aren't regulated in the same way at all. You can send them Ground, and you can even ship them USPS.

Rifles don't need to ship overnight but handguns do.

For shipping handguns I recommend UPS "Next Day Air Saver".

it has to be shipped from their "main hub." ask them and they'll tell you where you can find one in your city.

You need to go to a FedEx Station not FedEx Office

I tried to send my m&p a month ago to apex tactical and was told I couldn't. I had to take it to the main hub and it has to be overnighted. It also has to be returned to the same address as sent.

Sorry guys for not getting back sooner.

So the answer was yes. FedEx Office Print & Ship Center, which is staffed by FedEx employees, indeed can ship pistols as long as either the sender or the recipient is a FFL (in addition to the pistol required to be shipped overnight). At first the employees thought they can only ship a rifle, so I asked them to double check their company policy. Once that was done, the guy there wanted to be sure the pistol was unloaded, so I showed him it was not. After that everything went just like shipping any other stuffs.

So if anyone else needs to ship a pistol via FedEx, just make sure to ask them to check the policy booklet in case they say otherwise.
