    How are you illegal?

    Let me count the ways...

    Banned my make/model

Banned by having magwell outside pistol grip (can be overcome)

Banned by having barrel shroud (can be overcome)

Illegal for purchase from an FFL because of certification

    .....Is that enough for you?

Now, you CAN make something almost identical using an 80% lower you make yourself and building it, or by using the single-shot pistol exemption on an FFL transfer. It also would be required to use a bullet button or to be a bolt-action in its final form.

Please search on AR pistol... many have done it.

That's a bit untrue. THAT gun is completely illegal, but something EXACTLY like it, with a bullet button, would be completely legal - provided you followed one of the two way listed to obtain the receiver.

I think a pump rifle would make more sense in CA- you can have a detachable mag, short length, anything you want, basically- as long as it meeds fed law.

Definitely CA legal! They have them on sale at Big 5. Only the FA suppressed versions. No paperwork necessary though. No 10 day wait or 1 per 30 days or gun lock required. Truly incredible.

Okay, either you're wrong, or it's only available in California (I ran over to Big 5 and checked). Do I have to move so I can partake of such awesome firearms like you lucky Californians can own?
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

Indeed. The FA suppressed AR-15 pistol at Big 5 is only applicable in CA stores I apologize as I should have mentioned that. No worries though, someday you will be able to own the awesome guns that are prohibited in Nevada but are allowed in California

Big 5 sells rifles, they do not sell pistols unless you count airsoft.

                  Also, per
12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
                  4. A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
                  (B) A second handgrip.
A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
It fails 3 of the 4 above, NOT legal unless you use a BB or similar

To make it worse, it is not on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale in CA so no FLL could transfer one in for you either.

Basically unless you can find someone from out of state who has one, installs a BB then moves to CA and then sells it to you, you aren't getting one legally in CA

He was making a funny... note the outrageous statements about suppressors and no wait to take possession.

As has been noted previously, pump actions don't fall into the "tests" for semi-automatic pistol AW's. All this pistol needs for CA approval is a bullet button and a manufacturer to submit it for testing.
