It took me a while, really 'working it' to get the 3 I have and that was before the panic. Be patient and persevere. Not sure where you are at but Santa Cruz Armory (great guys) found me a 9mm Tactical Sports when no one, and I mean no one, else could.

Enterprise Arms in Irwindale had a CZ 75, not sure what version last Sunday. Gunworld in Burbank had a CZ P01 as well Friday night.

They seem to turn up here and there randomly, you're going to have to call around as people have said before. You might have to travel a bit too.

            I'm in the market for a 9mm SP-01, so I might be waiting/looking a bit longer. = /

Been looking for the standard CZ 75b here for the past couple of months. Cheapest I found in Socal area was $625. I guess I'll wait hoping prices come back down to a reasonable level.

Amazingly, you used to find these all over the place, and for about the same price as a Glock. Nobody wanted them. Then guys started taking trophies with them in IPSC/USPSA and people started looking at them, then suddenly the supply of them dropped (maybe a gov't contract, who knows) and people started REALLY looking for them and the price really creeped way up. And now with the double panic of the 2012 election and the new gun control scare ... well....

We didn't know a good thing when they were super cheap and plentiful!

Man if you can find one I'd buy it asap. When I got my SP-01, I just walked into Turners, paid for it in full and waited 6 months for them to get one in. It was pre-frenzy of course. But my GOD that gun shoots like a dream.

If I had the slightest clue how bad@ss this gun is I would have purchased it years prior. Good luck bro. You're going to love that gun.

OP...where are you located? I just saw 2 CZ's in City Arms in Pleasant Hill on Saturday. One was a 75 Target in .40 (~$1300)...the other I couldn't quite see since it was too crowded.

                      Some of us did

Many, many years before they were ever popular enough in the U.S. for 95% of gun owners to even recognize the brand name "CZ," they were cleaning up in Europe in IPSC and other competition. And then I agree with what you said about how they became popular in the U.S., but another factor was that there were CZ's in Call of Duty and maybe some other really popular video games. The demand exploded in a big, immediate way after that game came out.

CZ says military/gov't contracts have been taking up most of their production capability. So... a limited supply and huge popularity (due to performance and low comparative price) has led to them being difficult to find for a couple years running.

I could sell my very used SP-01 tomorrow for $300 more than I paid for it brand new from CZ Custom back in the day (which wasn't that long ago!).

Targetmasters usually has a good selection of pistols. However, not this time. I was just in there on Saturday and their pistol cases were close to empty. Normally, they have a good selection of Glocks and Sigs. Not this time. They have been wiped out on almost everything.

Jeremy, I actually bought my CZ-75 SA based solely on ... internet reviews and praises from guys like you, without even knowing anything about IPSC or USPSA!

Seriously, I decided that I wanted a 9mm, so I did the old Google thing and kept seeing good things about it. So, sight unseen, I ordered one from Impact Guns, but they called me and said "Oh you'll have to wait 2 weeks while we get one" So I cancelled and ordered one from Buds. The day after, Impact called again and said "Hey, great news, we have one to ship to you!" but I already made the Bud's order.

When I got it, the trigger pull was full of grit. I did "some stuff" and had an experienced tinkerer install the comp hammer and remove the FPB and ... whoa! It is amazing!

I used it for one USPSA match (which put me in limited 10, minor) and decided I needed an SP-01...and a few weeks later a fellow competitor was selling his. (for a lot, but it came with 9 mags, and a crap load of smithing). So I picked it up and it's my USPSA gun now.

In fact I had him re-install the FPB on the SP-01 to make it fully production legal (probably not necessary, but if you are going to play the game, then you should play by the rules, right?).

So I'm happy I got my two (and 17 magazines) before the panic, they are the sweetest shooting guns... completely awesome and I've already (mostly) forgotten how much I've paid for them, though honestly the SA was bought at a good pre-panic, pre CZ famine price.

OK, sorry for the rant, my point was simply...yes, they are worth hunting for and even if you have to pay extra due to "The Panic" it, more than most other guns, is actually worth paying more for, because for what you get, they used to be an incredible bargain for the price, and now with inflated prices, they are still worth what you are paying.

The good news is that even if you have to overpay, they're still worth it!!

Yes, but why in God's name would you?!

OP, keep shopping. They pop up here and there, they just don't sit on the shelf very long when they do come in. Call every store you can, and be ready to pull the trigger (pun absolutely intended) when you do find one.

When I was shopping for my SP-01 I was calling everywhere and nobody had 'em. Most shops were saying I could put a deposit and probably have one in 4 months. I found a shop with two in stock and drove up there that night.

Don't settle if you can be patient, I can't even begin tell you how much I love my CZ!

I did but that's when I just got into guns right before the frenzy and bought my 2 CZ's based off of the rentals and how confident and how well I was shooting them. I love them.

Try City Arms @ Pacifica, CA. I just recently got a CZ-75 BD Police put in jail last Thursday. They had 2 other CZs, not sure which models they were, in their inventory.
