    Just a quick question on the approved list

    I'm looking to buy a SA 1911 Mil-spec... model number PB9108LP. On the approved handgun list, the only number that matches is PB9108...without the LP. is this something to worry about? there is a PX9108L, but i reckon that is not the same thing.

    let me know

    If you search you'll find an earlier thread on this very same topic - the P stands for Package - and does not effect the guns status on the approved list.

      That earlier question was mine. So long as the numbers match up you're fine. As bunni said, the P just means you're getting some accessories with your gun. I ended up buying the Mil-Spec recently with no problems after getting input from calguns, budsgunshop, and Springfield.

        great, thanks guys. sorry for the weak search-fu...

        just another question real quick... i was researching buying a Walther PPK/S...and saw one on gunbroker, but it was a blued pistol. It was brought to my attention that the blued model is a no-go for CA...however, the EXACT SAME MODEL just in stainless steal is good to go. WTF? does anyone know the reason behind this?

        Thanks

          12131.5. (a) A firearm shall be deemed to satisfy the requirements of subdivision (a) of Section 12131 if another firearm made by the same manufacturer is already listed and the unlisted firearm differs from the listed firearm only in one or more of the following features:
          (1) Finish, including, but not limited to, bluing, chrome-plating, oiling, or engraving.
          (2) The material from which the grips are made.
          (3) The shape or texture of the grips, so long as the difference in grip shape or texture does not in any way alter the dimensions, material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel, the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the firearm.
          (4) Any other purely cosmetic feature that does not in any way alter the dimensions, material, linkage, or functioning of the magazine well, the barrel, the chamber, or any of the components of the firing mechanism of the firearm.
          but even those models must be added to the Roster.

          It's a sticky, first topic in this forum.
