    Walther P22 question

My LGS has two P22s left and I'm going at lunch today to probably purchase one.

Does anyone know if Walther fixed the bugs on the P22? I've heard numerous cases of the hammer hitting the bottom of the slide causing mal cycles. Also heard that they are very picky with the ammos it eats and the take down lever falls down during shooting.

I did a search on here and couldn't find any recent posts on the P22. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Btw, if you know of any LGS that have the SR22 in stock, please let me know as well. Thanks!

Go here - http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...splay.php?f=48 for all things P22
    also here - http://www.waltherforums.com/forum/p22/

Hammer/slide issues are negligible and unwarranted IMHO. Trigger bar ears benefit from a fluff and buff. They can be picky with ammo, CCI Mini-mags and Remington RGB's are the ammo of choice. Cleaned, lube with a light oil and moly powder = a happy P22.

My P22 runs CCI, RGB and Federal bulk without any problem. Tons of rounds through it.

The last SR22 I was was at Metal Dog Tactical several months ago.
SR22's are having some growing pains as well, though I have no personal knowledge.

I have an older P22...No problem using CCI mini mags.
It is a good and fun trainer.

Reeds had the SR22 but that was a while ago.
I have no issues with my P22. I do use CCI Mini Mag.

Thanks guys. I did go to Metal Dog Tactical today, but they were closed because of the shot show. I just called Reed's and they're sold out of the SR22, but they did have 3 P22s left. Nobody wants to buy the P22...eeek!

I'm not sure if Walther has fixed the P22 recently, but due to all the negative reviews I've seen in the past, I would recommend to stay away.

I bought a SR22 last year (right after they first came out) and haven't had any problems or complaints at all. The SR22 is definitely gtg.

My p22 eats anything. Only tiny thing is occasionally the slide doesn't go all the way forward and I have to push it the last 1/4 inch with my thumb. Not the worst thing in the world. I really like my p22!!

I have one of the recent P22 pistols, BC date code, and it has been flawless so far. Eats everything I have given it. Any kind of bulk lead round nose, lead hollow points, plated round nose and plated hollow points. Was surprised that it ran with the Remington Cyclone lead hollowpoints I had laying arouund. I have had it for a few months and have over 5000 rounds through it with no issues.

P22's are really disposable guns. Consider what you pay for it just like the money you spend when going to the movies or on vacation.
The slides are a zinc composite pot metal. Gradually the slides actually widen. After thousands of rounds (not a lot for a 22 pistol) the slide to frame side to side slop effects accuracy. The barrel is fixed to the frame, as the slide shifts from side to side and up and down, the point of impact changes.

I used to have one, then sold it to get a Browning Buckmark. The Buckmark is certainly worth the extra cost over a P22.

The P22 is great fun though and can be enjoyable, especially if you can get one to run on cheaper 22 ammo.
