There are DAO and SAO models.. the DAO model is painful to squeeze.. I don't recommend it.. the SAO.. I have no idea.. I never had any failure to feeds tho..

I have one in DAO, so honestly I can't be that much help. Mine goes bang every time, but I've heard horror stories. I personally have stayed away from the SAO version on purpose, but YMMV. I bought mine to go in my mouse gun collection and novelty more than anything. If you're looking for a carry gun, there are better options out there. Look for a Tomcat or LCP, they'll be a bit more expensive but would make better carry guns.

Not looking for carry, i have a s@w bodyguard 380 for my CCW. Im a collector and it looked kind of cool, but i dont want a gun that wont cycle, no matter how cool it is. Been there done that.

The magazine will jam with flat nosed rounds like corbon. Golden sabers and JHPs work well. I just load the top 2 rounds with corbon and the rest golden sabers. Kicks like a slap in the hand and not very accurate. I can't remember if I polished the feed ramp after I bought it 12 years ago because of something I read, but mine cycles reliably.

Had one in the early 80's. Loudest gun ever...especially when you forget to put on the earmuffs

Reasonably accurate, even though that isn't what it was made for. Across the room groups ran in the 5" range, despite the rudimentary sights.

I had no operational problems with it. Even the recoil, while sharp from the little gun with minimal surface area to grip on to, was not too bad.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

I've got one, never had any mechanical problems, but you need to be a gunsmith in order to take it apart for cleaning. Used it as a backup. Had a buddy LEO shoot a perp in the head in a life or death battle.

I put ours in the "worst guns..." thread.

Still have it (was inherited from my dad in the eighties), works ok, not accurate (as mentioned 4-5" groups short range seem common).

                    Wouldn't pay $300!!

                    Maybe $50?

                      AMT 380 is no back-up

Back in the 80's every AMT that we sold came back, they were handed over to me, fix these. I probably went thru a case of 380 in the test fire drum. I would stay away from it.

i have a DAO version and no problems. when i was looking for one from what i read and people i talked to i basically came to the conclusion that you either got a good one or a total piece of crap. The one i bought was on consignment and looked like it had been fired a bunch so i gave it a go and it must have been one of the good ones. no problems so far. But it is heavy compared to my Kahr P380. I am still looking for one in 45ACP if anyone is selling one

Its a no go for the Backup.

If your close to Fresno you can get an excellent. 380 Ruger LCP for $403 OTD.
