Anyone ever send anything out to ROBAR, if so what kind of turnaround time should one expect?

    Happy Day!!!

This might seem radical, but if you go to their website...http://www.robarguns.com/q_and_a.htm...the 9th question/answer will tell you what you need.

But that's not all...the home page actually gives you their phone number and business hours

My 15 year old P220 has the Robar NP3. Even the mags. The gun looks great and functions even better than new.

Thanks for the replies guy's. So far the wait sounds reasonable, I really want to get something NP3ed, not sure what yet though. When I get some funds together I'll figure it out.

          Happy Day!!!

What is your reason for getting the gun NP3? The only reason I see would be a woods gun. That is the route I took. My sidearm goes through 4 seasons in the woods sometimes in a single day. So depending on your purpose you might need NP3 but rather another finish. Talk with Robar and explain to them the purpose of the weapon of choice and they will set you up right.

My purpose is purely for the aesthetic properties of NP3. From what I've seen and read on various forums, NP3 has a very distinct look and feel from other finishes (which everyone seems extremely pleased with). I admit NP3 would be over kill and a bit indulgent. However this would be my first refinishing of a pistol and between Cera-hide and NP3 the price difference is small enough for me to want to go for the ROBAR finish for my 1st time out.

I'm not sure yet, but I intend to have it applied to either my CZ-75B (which was my first pistol), P6 from the resent SoCal group buy (hasn't arrived yet, depends on finish and quality of surface), or a German or W. German P226 witch I'm intent on finding once I raise the funds.

I do intend on calling or emailing ROBAR for the details, but I wanted to hear some 1st hand experiences before I fully committed to the idea. I'm currently a student at a very expensive school, so I don't want to have any doubts about any penny I spend.

Thanks again for your replies. If you guys have any other comments or anything regarding ROBARs services/finishes please chime in, I should have been more specific when I inquired the 1st time.

T-Bear, thanks for the links. I look forward to reading them.

I had the NP3 finish applied to my M&P 45 slide for the the same reason you are considering, aethetics. While it looks amazing, I'd probably not do it again because of it now being almost too slippery. The finish is amazingly slick, but I now really have to engage the cocking serrations to manipulate the slide. Not a big deal, but something you should consider.

I have a USP in NP3. The USP's slide serrations are rather shallow and the slide has slipped out of my hands a few times so I know what you mean.

I also have a couple M&Ps. The M&P slide serrations allow for a good grip. I am not considering getting NP3 on my M&Ps but I have often thought the M&P's unique serrations would make it more of a viable option for NP3. Based on your experience, I guess not.

Could we see some pics of your MP45 in NP3?

I had my S&W 66 sent out for Roguard with NP3 internals. Turnaround was about 6 weeks, and the quality is excellent.

                      Kpblade, Choochboost & rorschach,

I never considered the slippery aspect, but I think I'll be willing to deal with it for the trade off for looks.

An M&P and USP in NP3 then a Model 66 in Rogaurd, and no porn. You guys are teasing me. JK if its too much trouble.

                      Thanks

Alright here you go. It's not a very good one though.

I still want to see that MP45 in NP3.

you should see the NP3'd expert on hkpro (ultimate drool) i love the bonus serrations though on that USP, i think i saw yours on HKP as well.

i had my DE finished in NP3. BEST-THING i ever did for it. stopped jamming, cut clean time in half, just generally more fun to use

Yep, when I completed my little project I posted it there.

Now that is something I'd like to see. I just picked up a DE on Saturday.

                              choochboost,

Thanks for the pic of your cool HK, the forward cocking serrations are nice.

T-Bear gave me this link with a NP3ed DE.
