I have a glock question, need a pro please

I want to know what the trigger spring is holding onto on the trigger mechanism housing? Is the spring held on by a thin strip of plastic or is there metal in it where it counts? I'm talking about the bottom hook of the S shaped trigger spring. I know the top of the spring hooks to the metal trigger bar but what about the bottom??

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I know how to break down and assemble the glock. I just want to know what material the bar that the bottom of the trigger spring hooks too.. Metal or plastic?

Like I said I know the top hook of the trigger spring hooks to a metal trigger bar but what about the bottom hook??

Why are you afraid of this? There's probably a better chance of the spring bending out of shape before there's enough force to break the plastic.

As a side note, I personally run a NY1 spring with the dot connector in all Glocks. Definitely is a more durable setup, but for me its moreso I like the combination of the 2 and how it affects the trigger pull.

The Glock trigger cruciform is metal but the housing is plastic. The housing does not break, the trigger spring will break at the hook end of the plastic housing. I don't know what you are worried about, I have over 80,000 rounds thru the G17 on the bottom of the picture with no issues. There was a run of bad trigger springs in the late 90's but that is over with.

I will leave it for now. Just a little odd. And I can get a new trig mech house as a backup.

The NY springs replace the coil spring. You can't have both at the same time.

I did the same thing my first few attempts, no big deal. Just bought a new OEM trigger Housing 8.50$ shipped. Replaced it carefully this time so it's gtg.

I have a question too. I lost a small part when cleaning my gen 2 glock 17. It's part of the recoil spring assembly. Anyone know where I can get a replacement? If I buy the gen 4 spring assembly will it fit my gen 2? Damn!!

As another poster mentioned, you can't have both. The NY1 spring works differently and is housed in its own setup. It has a different tension system. Here is what it looks like:


It drops in the housing where the standard spring normally would go in and doesn't have to attach itself to the housing, it just fits right in. It has to be noted that you'd probably want to switch to a much lighter connector if you use this setup because it'll make your trigger pull heavier. The effect it has is similar to a very light and relatively short DA revolver trigger pull.
