    Stainless cz 75b

Just bought a cz 75 b (9mm)stainless here in California from a local gun dealer. Can I legally own this and use?

No, you and the FFL committed a felony by selling that gun in CA.

Please PPT it to me immediately, and I'll keep the heat off your back.

    [/sarcasm]

Did you seriously just ask if something was legal AFTER doing it?

I doubt a gun dealer would sell you an illegal gun but you can always check the roster to be sure.

Stainless is not on the list, I'm guessing it was on consignment

Thank you for the info but if it is on consignment can I legally buy and own it? Is there a way I will know if it is a consignment ? Sorry for this very naive statement but I am new to this stuff.

That gun is 100% legal to posses/own and use. Absolutely, completely, without question.

It is not on the Roster, which means a dealer is not allowed to sell it to a normal person. However, two people can use a dealer to sell that gun in a face-2-face private party transaction. If the gun was at the dealer on consignment, rather than actually owned by the dealer, then it can fall into this exempt-from-the-roster category. Regardless of whether the dealer broke a rule selling it to you, you're totally fine owning and using it. The Roster has nothing to do with legality of possession.

from my understanding .. a dealer can not make a profit on a roster gun sale unless sold out of state

Please stop with this. You're reversing the terms.

A handgun on the "Roster of handguns certified for sale" is one you can buy from a dealer's inventory. A consigned handgun at a dealer is not part of the dealer's inventory and is considerred a PPT. PPT's are roster exempt. So are C&R handguns and certain dimensionally compliant single-actions. You can buy virtually any handgun thats not an AW or SBS via PPT.

Look, you're overthinking things. If you are purchasing a handgun through a FFL dealer, you are going to be fine. Unless it has a threaded barrel, a forward pistol grip or a "shoulder-thing-that-goes-up", your good.

Now just wait your ten days and then enjoy your sexy new CZ pistol you lucky bastard!
