    Off Roster DA Revolvers? Really?

Was browsing the theads and hit the one on making DA S&W's SA...

Have to admit, I've not bought a handgun in Ca. and only two long guns,

So really? S&W DA revolvers are "forbidden" or whatever?

Am I missing something? I've got to be, right?

OK, I guess this is the deal here...

"Effective January 1, 2001, no handgun may be manufactured within California, imported into California for sale, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered/exposed for sale unless that handgun model has passed firing, safety, and drop tests and is certified for sale in California by the Department of Justice. Private party transfers, curio/relic handguns, certain single-action revolvers, and pawn/consignment returns are exempt from this requirement. :

As I understand it, and the experts correct me if I'm wrong...

That is grandfathered so that pistols & revolvers already offered in Kalifornistan as of 2001 are exempt as long as the Mfr pays to keep it on the roster. That is why you see some 1911s & other pistols without all the safety crap still selling new. As long as the Mfr keeps paying the extortion $$$ they get to sell the guns.

It is why Kalifornistan has virtually zero negligent discharges & other such mishaps...

S&W has most of their current production revolvers on the roster.

The single action conversion is for the guns that aren't on the roster, and are less than 50 years old.
