    Handgun gift

Need some help. I read through several posts and confused myself. I live in california. My father lives in indiana. He is gifting me 2 handguns.

    Questions
    1. What do i need to do if he brings one with him? Just fill out and send in the intra-family transfer form and $19?

    2. And on the second, can he or can he not ship it to me directly as a family gift from parent to child. Or does this go to an ffl and then a ca ffl? And if ffls are involved they do paperwork correct?

And if he cant ship it direct, to confirm in another way its way easier and cheaper to have him just bring it with him correct?

I am an adult, able to own a handgun, and have the safety cert.

    Want to get this right!

    Thanks

A gift from an IN resident to a CA resident must go through a CA FFL. That's federal law for interstate transfers.

He may, indeed, visit and bring the handguns from IN to Your Local FFL, and do the transfer there. You need the HSC, and you'll wait the 10 days, but the Roster does not apply.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
