2nd ID for handguns purchase question.

I know I've seen it here before, but I can't seem to find either the 'Flow Chart' or the list of acceptable IDs for purchasing handguns.
So, what are the acceptable second forms of ID?
    Thanks.

Car registration in your name and current address, utility bill, lease for apartment. I'm sure there's a couple more.

Not sure what you're asking but you need to prove residency using a utility bill, lease agreement or other ID beside an Driver's license.

      If you're in CA:
Public Where do I find laws regarding the possession of firearms? I'm not sure whether I have a California record that would prevent me from owning/possessing a firearm. Is there a way to find out before I attempt to purchase one? What is the process for purchasing a firearm in California? How can I obtain a Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) license? Can I give a firearm to my adult child? Can he/she give it back to me later? Can I give a firearm to my spouse or registered domestic partner? Can he/she give it back to me later?

I was lookin' for this Purchasers of handguns are also required to provide proof of California residency, such as a utility bill, residential lease, property deed, or government-issued identification (other than a drivers license or other DMV-issued identification).

Thanks for the link. It says "such as", so my question is if you don't get bills in your name (or if you lived w/your parents, I guess) then what?

There's a waiver form you can have your parents fill out. If you're renting then I believe you can have the landlord sign it off. I don't know if it's changed because the last time I filled one out was in 2008 right when I got out of the military and didn't have any bills under my name.

Utah CCW. It's government issued, has name, address, and photo. And is exempt from HSC/safe handle demonstration.

I would consider calling your lgs and ask them what they need/prefer. It may vary from one to another.

For example, I brought in a phone bill and a gas bill when I bought my Sig. They didn't like the phone bill but the gas bill worked.

What they want is something that proves that you are *currently* living in the location that you say you are living in. With that in mind there are several things that qualify. Car registration is probably the most popular, utility bill-gas, water, something that connects to your house, lease-must have a start and end date to verify you currently reside there.

If you live with your parents, your car is registered to them or you dont have one then your best bet is a lease from your partents. It doesnt have to be much, just a piece of paper that says between x date and x date "your name here" is renting a room in our house for $1. It could be from 1/1/13-2/1/13 for all they care. I believe that it must be notarized to be acceptable so figure that in before going there.

When in doubt call the LGS and see what they would like to see, it is ultimately up to them. Many people dont know that the proof of residency is required to be provided before they release the gun to you, not when you start the dros paperwork so you could go buy something and get your proof together during the wait...Some shops may have stricter policies though.

Also, not all gun store employees know this, but if you have two different vehicle registrations it counts as two proofs of residency.

I ran into almost the same thing and the guys at the gun shop gave me a generic lease agreement form for my land lord to sighn with the adress and everything and it was no problem. You could probablly find a form on the internet. Hope this helps.

I used a generic lease agreement. I rent a home from my parents and all the bills are in my girlfriends name so I had a little trouble too. I just printed it off the Internet and filled in the blanks with my name and address. Signed my name and that was it.

It's interesting for those of you who posted hunting/fishing licenses as an acceptable form of ID. The Cal DOJ page says you can't: http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/resprf

While a cell phone bill won't work, a hardline telephone bill should. I've never tried using the cable bill, but that should be good to go as it is also a hard wired type of instrument tied to a physical location.

I got a question on the following:
"Also, not all gun store employees know this, but if you have two different vehicle registrations it counts as two proofs of residency."

Since you need to show two forms, with your driver's license usually being used, you'd only need to show one of the vehicles. If you didn't have a driver's license but you still had the two vehicles, how did you legally drive to the gun shop?
