Need some info about getting my gun

I am from Texas and have been here 2yrs. In that time I have bought only rifles. I just purchased a S&W 9mmC and picking up on monday. I took all my paperwork in and the guy said my title will not work, I need a copy of my vehicle registration. Can I just go down there to get a copy, or is this something that only is done by mail?
My rental agreement is under my wife's name, and all bills are paid by my apt. already. Thanx

You don't have the registration in the car, or you never bothered to register the car in Ca? The law requires you to have the registration or a copy in the car when your driving it. Yes you can go to a DMV office stand in line and get a copy, for a fee of course.

Also, just for reference the following are acceptable to the CADOJ and thus any FFL to establish proof of residency for a firearm transaction:

      -Utility bill
      -Residential lease
      -Property deed
-Various forms of government documents (with address)

None of the following are acceptable:

      -Hunting or fishing license
      -Cellular phone bill
      -Passport
      -Pay stub

Yeah I got it registered. I went to DMV, paid for my plates and got my stickers.
Then I received my pink slip in the mail. I think what ever my stickers came attached to I threw away. Was that supposed to be my registration papers?

that wasn't "supposed" to be the registration that is the registration. I recommend you go to DMV and get a copy and keep it in the car. In the mean time the pink slip may suffice, but I'm not 100% positive on that even though it has the same basic info as the registration without the valid dates.

Yes that thing attached to the sticker was your registration. Without it in your car, if you are pulled over and the cop wants to be a dick (because they can look up the info on their computer anyway), they can have your car towed if you don't produce a copy.

As already stated, head down to the DMV and get another copy of your registration, and don't throw it away this time

Yeah not even close to a ring of truth about towing the car. 4462 a CVC is an infraction and a fix it ticket. Not a impoundable violation.
