    What I learned today...

Never clean your shiny perfect gun while wearing a tungsten-carbide wedding ring! Luckily I caught myself before too long, but I now have several 'personalizing' marks

    Still LOVE that ring though!!!

Sorry about your mishap. My lesson learned the hard way like you is to make sure the rag your using to wipe down your firearm is clean of hard particles. My wife happened to grab my oiled cloth from its usual hanging spot above my workbench to wipe off some metal filings off my bench before she set a bag of groceries on it. As you can guess my shotgun got a few extra scratches that day.

I don't wear any jewelery. I work on heavy equipment, climb all over, use tools. I lost my third wedding ring 30 years ago. It isn't worth it to get another just to lose it or hurt myself because of it.

Scratches and other blemishes are a fact of life with any shooter that gets shot much. No way to prevent it. You can try to minimize the marks but eventually its a lost cause. When you decide to give up and accept the realities of a shooter then you will see that every mark on that shooter just gives it more personality. The only sure fire way of keeping them bright and perfectly shiny is to not shoot it or handle it (safe queen).

                  My 2 cents.

While I'm happily married, this is REALLY funny.

Being left handed I have to take my ring off every time I shoot my 1911.

I have a ridged TC ring as well and I always take it off when handling firearms. It will scratch glass, so it will do plenty to another metal.
