    Sig 2022 Grip Problems

I just bought a used Sig 2022 and I love it but the medium grip (the larger one of the two that came with the gun) moves slightly and makes a plastic rubbing together clicking kind of noise when I grip it good. I found one other person on the internet that had the same problem but didn't mention if he replaced his medium grip. If I use the small grip the problem goes away, but I like the feel of the medium grip alot more. I was just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and bought a replacement medium grip. I plan on getting a replacement medium grip but don't want to find that the replacement has the same problem.

Also, if you have a medium grip and don't use it I'll buy it off you for $15 shipped if it doesn't have the problem mine has...

check the locking tab in the grip he may have damaged it prying it off before selling to you so it has play in it.

Locking tab looks okay, the movement is from the back of the gun to the front of the gun. It looks more like the rails that slide under the front of the grip are wider toward the bottom of the grip. The small grips rails are the same width from top to bottom. I think the grip was probably bad from the factory. I plan on calling sig on Monday but I bought the gun used so I don't know if they will warranty it, but replacements are only about $15 online and since I bought the gun for $325 used vs $450 + tax new I think buying used was still worth it.

Personally is just buy new set of grips too and not bother trying to convince them to send me grips. Can't repair plastic grips anyway just replace.

I would just buy new grips. Probably cheap on ebay or GunBroker.

I had the same problem and called up sig. They had me send the grip in and sent me back a new one without the problem free of charge, except the cost to ship the defective one to them.

Thanks, I will probably do that since I'm not in any rush. Do you remember how long it took to get the replacement after you sent it in?

UPDATE - Called Sig and they were aware of the problem. At first it sounded like they didn't want to send me a replacement because they said "Exchanging the grips doesn't fix the problem." Asked the guy on the phone if I could try it anyway and he agreed to send me a new one without having to send the grip back. Kinda bad that Sig knows about the problem, I guess there are alot of other people running into the same issue. Hopefully the replacement will work out okay...

UPDATE - Finally got a new replacement medium grip in the mail and it has the same problem. I guess I'll just stick with the small unless I can try to get another medium...

Maybe you can try and put a bit of tape under the rails or under the backing of the grip to take up a bit of the looseness.

I have a new SP2022 and don't have that same problem though. I have to really grip it hard to make it move. It doesn't happen under normal circumstances.

Hopefully you can find an easy solution to this.

I had the exact same thing happen with the smaller of the grips! My larger grip is fine. i would try the tape idea that XDJYo mentioned. especially if your not going to be changing the grip often. I still swap mine out to accommodate for my wife's smaller hands when she comes to the range with me. To me it looks like a problem with the locking tab and if Sig knows about it then they should try and fix the issue. Maybe they used cheaper parts to keep the cost down?
