    USP Variant Conversion in CA?

Hey my fellow Californians, I'm in the market for a USP Compact and had a question regarding the different variants.

Only a couple of variants are listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale. if I were to buy a variant listed there and then convert it to a different variant (such as buing a V1 USP45 Compact and converting it to V3 or LEM model) would that be within the law? As I understand the Roster only applies to sale of handguns, once they're purchased the owner may perform factory replacements or custom trigger jobs.

If this belongs in a different discussion section, I'll gladly repost

Cool, and is it a relatively straightforward process? How many parts would be needed to switch the variants (i.e. do they offer conversion kits)? And since I'm only adept at field-stripping and not complete disassembly, would I need a gunsmith or armorer to convert it?

Check youtube. Its certainly more advanced than a field strip. Parts may be a problem at the moment as well, I've been on the notify list for a USP Match trigger for months over at HKParts.

Most of the variant switch on USP's is one or two parts. It requires someone with a fair amount of knowledge to perform armorer or a smith. H&K should be able to supply the parts, I've never checked if anyone else like Midway or Brownells has them. If you tell me what you want to switch to I can pull my armorers manual and tell you exactly what parts you need.
