I went out to the range with my brother and nephews today. We limited the firearms we brought to a handful of 9's and 45's.
I brought my new to me early 90's Sig 220 for it's first trip to the range since acquiring it a few weeks ago and my now finely tuned Kimber Classic Stainless (all MIM removed / replaced with Wilson bulletproof components, polished internals, springs replaced with Wolff springs).
My brother brought my old Sig 226 I never should have sold him and his Beretta 92FS. I spent most of the time showing my nephews proper stance / grip techniques and methods to improve their accuracy.
Both my guns have lasermax laser grips, the Kimber is spot on, I still need to adjust the 220's, using the laser I was slightly low and to the left. I showed my nephews how the lasers were not necessary at all and that you can be VERY accurate / quick at 15-30-50 feet with just the factory sites.
It had been several years since I had shot a beretta and I must say I was pretty impressed with the accuracy of that handgun. It held it's own against my old 226 and it was just as easy to shoot, very little recoil / muzzle flip. I wouldn't mind having one some day.
My nephews and I purchased some of those Battleship Targets and had a few games of battleship to close things out. After winning the first one they made me shoot off handed, left hand only for the second game. Let me tell you, I NEVER shoot that way and now believe I need to practice as my ability to site in and shoot effectively is greatly diminished using my left hand. So now I will go through a few magazines left handed every trip to the range thanks to Steven and Michael
The boys had a lot of fun, my brother is a better shot than I remembered and we burned through a few hundred rounds of ammo.
It was a very good day.
BTW - I love the Sig 220, I wish it had better than 8 round capacity, but it is dead nuts accurate and very nice to shoot. I hit a bullseye at 50' my first shot with it. Thoroughly impressed.
