ok so my mother that is passing away in ohio has many firearms that are not ca compliant. i am going to be the legal owner per will. so how do can bring them home legally. no fully auto but non ca safety or gun ban compliant

Sorry to hear about your impending loss.
Inheritance is really quite simple - no FFL needed by either Federal or CA law.
Handgun Roster is not an issue. If there are any centerfire semiautomatics, those will have to be checked against the list of banned-by-name (those cannot come to CA) and the others for features.
Handguns will have to be registered via the OPLAW form: 1 form, 1 $19 fee, list all the handguns.
