Quick question, I noticed some of the MK19 barrels have a dove tail style rail while the newer ones have a picatinny rail. Could I use the newer style barrel on the DE that has the older style barrel?

My understanding is that MK19's all interchange.You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

NOPE - the MKI & MKVII are 3/8ths (dovetail/rimfire rail) and the MKXIX is weaver/picatinny rail. ALL MKXIX guns have the same rail regardless what you think you've seen. The MKI & MKVII both have a 3/8th's (rimfire) rail.
I own an MKI in .357mag and a MKXIX in .44mag.Comment

Noheavyhitter, sorry I don't think i asked clearly (maybe the older style isn't a "dovetail" like the previous DE versions), I noticed the MK19 has two different rail styles:
Older (i think)
newer
I was just wondering if the newer barrels made by MRI were compatible with the mk19 that has an older barrel.

all mark 19's barrels interchange. Recently magnum research was bought out by Kahr, who in turn has moved the manufacturing to the US. The older israeli made mark 19s do not have the full picattini rail whereas the made in US has the full picatinni rail on top. Other than that no difference.Comment

Yeah, all the mk 19 barrels swap back and forth. For example I have the mk19 6" .44 barrel that came with it (without picatinny rail, has the old style scope rail instead). 2012 CA legal Mk19 desert eagle.
Then I ordered a mk 19 .50ae barrel for it and dropped that on there (with picatinny rail).
The style of rail on the barrel doesnt dictate specifically wheather it fits your Desert Eagle's frame.
Its the older pre Mark 19 barrels you need to steer clear of because the wont fit on the mark 19 frame. Actually tried to slip a Mark I barrel onto my Mk 19 just to see what happens and the front frame rails where the barrel has grooves for, were too big to slip to barrel on.NRA Endowment MemberComment

Ahhh... I gotcha. They still make the MKXIX barrels (guns actually) in both styles. My understanding is the US barrel has multiple slots (picatinny) and the Israeli barrel has 2 slots (weaver style). Those are compatible. FWIW, the "CA legal" MKXIX gun that I picked up ~about 3 months ago has 2-slots.Comment

Ya, thanks guys. I also called MRI and they said the two slot barrels were made in Isreal and the Picatinny barrels are made in the USA. The barrels SHOULD be interchangable.
The tech guy did tell me that every once in a while a barrel will not fit and can be sent into MRI and it will be properly fitted.Originally Posted by CitaDeL
