I carry a P380 most days. Before that I carried a PM9. The P380 is slightly smaller so a bit easier to pocket carry (using a pocket holster) than the PM9 which is why I switched. Have not had any reliability issues with either. YMMV. My friends with PM9's/CW9's like their pistols very much.

I have the PM9, 600 rounds and not one misfire or FTE. After about 400 rounds the trigger really smoothed out.
I carry this concealed, mostly during the summer months, and feel more confident in the 9mm round as opposed to the .380.

You can never be wrong either way. Both are smaller but P380s are smaller than PM9.

I have a PM9 as a BUG, it's a good performer for what it is a small back up gun. I have just under 1500 rounds fired in mine, I trust it. Not a fan of .380's, I will deal with a slightly larger BUG, for the benefit of a better cartridge.

Consider yourself lucky if you get a functional P380. I really tried to like mine, perfect size for pocket carry and great trigger but was unreliable and Kahr offered to buy it back so away it went. Replaced it with a PM9 and so far 100 percent reliable but just a little big for pocket carry for me. I like the PJ kydex iwb holster. If they ever work the bugs out I will get another 380, it had potential.

P380 = smaller and is picky at what it eats.
PM9 = a little bigger, cheap to shoot

Owned both, still have the PM9, if you want to pocket carry, the P380 is the ticket (but I preferred the Ruger LCP) if your going to carry IWB or any other way then pocket, I'd go with the larger 9MM caliber.

I loved my Non roster P380, high quality, nice sights, but I shot better with a Ruger LCP. The LCP was half the price, lighter , thinner and smoother edges for pocket carry, no snag draws, so I traded the P380, replaced it with a LCP and had $300 less in my pocket pistol.

I would go PM9 or Ruger LCP, I just can't justify the price of the P380 for a belly gun when the LCP will do the same job for half the price and many have found to be more reliable than the baby Kahr.

go with the 9mm because it is cheaper ammo than 380.

I was all set to get the 380 at my LGS; Was told the LCI is what makes it unreliable.
going back soon for the 9mm, still want to get the 380, see if the almighty dremel can make it work.

Seeing the two guns your considering, I'm assuming your looking for a carry weapon, so my comments are based upon this assumption.

I hear this 9mm is cheaper all the time, and I agree the 9MM is cheaper to shoot, and I agree if your buying a handgun to go out and have fun with at the range, and our asking should I get a .40 or a 9mm, its a no brainer, why waist the money on a 40 or 45 cal.

But if your looking for a round for self defense, or a platform for self defense( such as pocket carry) then I wouldn't make my decision based on the price of ammo, I would go with what works for your desired application, I'm a firm believer in carry the largest caliber you can, of course a 9mm is cheaper to buy and a more effective caliber than .380, but if you want to pocket carry, and the 9MM gun is too big for you in that application, such as my PM9 and PF9 is for me, then go with a .380, you can use inexpensive Winchester white box for target shooting and get a good SD load for carry.

If the size of a 9mm isn't too big or heavy for your intended purpose, then by all means go with a 9mm or 40 cal, if your looking for the most effective carry round then i'd go with a .40 or .45. But that's just my opinion,

Have you considered a Ruger LCP? I too was dead set on the P380, and I loved it, mine had no LCI since it was off roster, but even so, like I said, I much preferred my LCP. Might want to check them out.

I've bought and sold several LCP's just because other deals came along, but I'm in the process of buying my fourth LCP now.
