I'm picking up my 9mm PX4 this week, so I'm on the hunt for ammo. It seems pickings are slim these days, so I am planning on buying reloads from Serge for use as range ammo, and some jhp for home defense. Is there anything special about the first XXX rounds to go through a new pistol that warrant higher quality ammo, or should I be fine using reloads to familiarize myself with the weapon?

I'd say at least do a few hundred rounds of factory first. Some people dont believe that I makes a difference, I do with a new barrel and all based upon out of spec rounds, but up to you your gun. I think it should be a misdemeanor with a 1000 dollar fine or 6 months of jail. It should be a felony if done near an open flame.

Agreed, I'd fire the first couple hundred rounds with factory rounds, then you can switch to reloads if you so desire.
I've fired over 2000 rounds of Serge's reloads, those are definitely good to go.Comment

There's a rental PX4 in .40SW at the Burbank Firing Line that has been shot with reloads only. Looks good to me. Good luck!sigpicComment
