    Transfering a Handgun.

Where would I find the thread that explains the inter-family transfer of handguns?

Senerio...I bought my Father a pistol around 1990,my Father passed away,I got my Father's guns and decided to give my Brother the pistol that I gave my Father. Does he have to register in his name? The paper trail would reflect me giving a pistol to my brother...Is this Legal?

I would prefer that he gives it back or registers it in his name.

    Thanks For Any Thoughts...

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

for you to give your brother a firearm that you own, CA law requires you to go to a CA dealer to do a PPT transfer to him. cost for the PPT is $35 total, + $25 for an HSC if your brother doesn't have one, and a couple bucks for a handgun lock.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
