    Writing a letter to Tactical Solutions, please help

    I explain the problem in the letter; Is there any more tactful way of getting them to compensate me? Am I wrong for expecting compensation?

    "XXXX,

    Attached is the pic, basically the female thread on top of the barrel is somewhere between 1/8" and 1/16" too far forward and I can't bolt the rail down to it. The rail fits just fine with the stock barrel so I know it is your barrel. There are two ways to solve this problem.

    Option #1

    Send a replacement barrel to;

    XXXXXXXX
    XXXX
    XXXXXXXXX

    I will send the old one back to you in the same packaging

    Option #2

    I send you the barrel and rail back and you make a special one off rail to make the barrel work. I am not fond of this option as moving some of these products to other pistols may cause problems in the future. I am sure you ARE fond of this option as it would be a much less expensive fix.

    For this compromise I would expect compensation from you to the tune of these scope rings in matte black;

    You could probably just call and speak with someone honestly and professionally and get it worked out.

    If it was me, I'd get someone on the phone and explain my issue with the product but not cast blame on the manufacturer (placing blame will immediately put the CS rep on the defensive). Try to avoid making demands right away or giving two options to solve the problem (this comes off as giving two demands for the manufacturer to choose from).

    "Hi [persons name], I just got this product and when I went to install it the threads look a little off to me. I tried lining the rings up on a factory barrel and they seem to line up fine but they don't look to fit [product x]. Have you heard of something like this happen before? What can we do to remedy this?"

    feel them out and be polite.

    you get better results by playing nice than being demanding.

    just my opinion and suggestion.

      I would just call up and say that you would like to return or exchange the piece. When they ask why give the reason of it appears the rail threads on top are not to the correct specifications. At a minimum you can return the piece and purchase a different barrel from another manufactureer

        Are we looking at a top-down view of a Ruger 22/45? You say the rail works on your stock barrel, but are you sure it's compatible with the TacSol barrel? Is the rail backwards by any chance?

        Call and ask to see how this situation can be worked out first before making demands. If they agree to swap out the barrel with a new one, I don't really see what the issue is.

          Browning Buckmark and there is only one way the barrel can be installed.

          The barrel is $300 and the rail is $30.

            I know a few folks at TacSol between gun club and church.

            All are good people.

            I'd take nothinghere2c's and the two threads' after his suggestions.

            I would not demand compensation...mistakes happen and TacSol should do right for you. I would reasonably expect TacSol will cover your return shipping and shipping a good part back to you.

            Let us know how this ends up.

              I was asking if the rail was installed backwards? Also, if the rail isn't made by TacSol, are you sure it's compatible?

                You should call and tell them that the problem is. Your letter just makes you sound like a prick and probably isn't necessary.

                      I generally call, explain the problem or issue I'm having with their product and ask "What can you (or we) do for me regarding this situation?"
                      It's been my experience the manufacturer will offer to make it good and throw you a comp of some sort for good PR.
                      If I cannot get a satisfactory resolution from the rep on the phone, I ask for the service manager before I start with my....demands for, whatever it is that I think I should get.
                      I've gone this route with Mossberg, only once, when my 930SPX puked and I sent it back twice. I spoke with the VP in charge of service after I sent it back the second time, explained the situation and the lack of satisfactory repairs done on my gun....10 days later a brand new SPX was delivered and has worked perfectly from shot #1.
                      Good luck.

                        My experience with tactical solutions CS is that they are very easy to deal with. I'm sure they'll take care of the problem. Don't give them ultimatums. Just tell them the issue and they will resolve it.

                            One more vote for give them a call. They are a standup company and will make it right. Calling will get it done faster too.
