    Detonics

    Hi all - Happy Holidays,

So I am considering a detonics a friend of mine wants to sell, and he was a long time collector. It is an early seattle gun, ser # C201XX, blued (or blacked?) with the word DETONICS 45 on one side of the slide. It also has seattle written next to the ser #. Has a rubber pachmayr wrap around grip set, that seems as though the mainsping housing is integral to.

Mint, flawless, never been shot with the Detonics pistol rug, and he wants 750. I am thinking that I might never find another in California so I am thinking of buying it.

Questions are - how hard are parts to find? Are they compatable with regular 1911 parts? How reliable a shooter can I expect? Also, since it is so clean, am I a fool to just take it out and bang away? I am prett hard on stuff, and it wont look clean for long and am wondering if I should save a few bucks and look for another in used shape for less?

    Thanks,

and happy holidays. Oh, I said that already.

It must be a Combat master. I picked up a mint CM a few months ago and it has been reliable through 1000 rounds. I carry quite frequently when a my revolver doesn't feel enough.

$750 for a original Seattle gun is a good price.
