Glock 21 or Springfield xd 45

Well im looking to get my first handgun. And im looking for something in a polymer frame 45 ACP. So ive narrowed it down to two possible beasts. The glock 21 seems like a choice that I cant go wrong with. Now the new Xd seems awsome as well. I was almost set to get the glock, but the 5" model now has stopped me from the purchase. What do you guys think would be the better firearm? OR whats the one i should go with!

Both! I know, that wasn't on of the choices. I have a 21, but am seriously interested in shooting the XD45. I may have to get one soon.

I'd go for the XD. The sight acquisition on them is much better.

Most girls hate my GLOCK, but they love the XD. What does that tell you? You'll probably like it if you have little girly hands hahahaha

But seriously, you can't go wrong with either one, they're great. I tend to like GLOCK more because it's not Croatian.

Funny, that's what I hear most people say about Glocks, period. That they're for people with girly hands.

I prefer the XD, it's basically a Glock, perfected. And it points where it shoots.

The Glock will take the most severe toture tests, my big beef with the Glock 21 is that it's basically a scaled up Glock 17, that back heel is too big for my hand, and I have big hands...I know you can modify it, but I don't think I'd want to irreversable mod a Glock. Plus, side is that you can you use you 13 or more round Pre-ban mags in the Glock. The Springfield has CA-legal 10 round mags and since the gun was just made, there's no way in heck you can legally own over 10 round mags for it unless you're LEO or military, that would piss me off. Might as well get a 8+1 Kimber or Springfield 1911.

The biggest gripe I have about the XD, is that Springfield has not, will not, and may never make a sight tool for their sights. I have had 2 shops here in the LA area tell me they cannot and will not work on XD's (sights) and that I have to send it in. When I called to find out what the cost through them was, it took 2+ weeks to get an answer, and they want $60 just to put new sights on (not including the cost of the sight).

I own an XD .40, and a glock 21.... and you know what, it really doesn't matter what anyone tells you to get. Go for fit/ feel.......

FWIW, the same tests have been done on the XD with the same results. The only thing on the side of the Glock there is that it's been around for a longer time... but by all indications, the XD will fill the shoes plus some.

One final bonus for the Glock is that if you ever move to a country where full-auto is allowed you can swap the back slide plate with a selector switch in 5 mins. Lets see the Springfield do that.

Seriously, the Springfield looks very promising, especially with the accesories you get, shame we can't have the over 10 round mags though.

I held an XD9 in one hand, and my G17 in the other, and there's really no comparison. Maybe it's the finger grooves in my gen-3 G17 that make the difference.

But still, it's Croatian. I don't want it simply because it might wake up in the middle of the night and commit genocides on muslims and serbs

The XD also has the grip safety.
