    Reliable/GTG 9mm?

Any known models around $500 (besides Glock) that are known for their ability to eat up any kind of ammo? This is my first handgun so I'd like one that will cover my HD/range bases.

My CZ has had no probs after 1500 rds. Go talk to the folk at the rental counters -- they know which pistol works. My 2 cents.

I posted in the Sac Chapter sub forum and no one replied with who rents CZ! I really want to try one, but the SP-01 is out of my price range and I want a rail.

        Are you kidding?

        1. Any S&W gen 3 or later, (sd, sigma, M&P)
        2. Any Ruger
        3. Any Taurus "92"

But seriously, you have been listening to too much glock fanboism. Most modern handguns will shoot anything they are fed.

Im a Glock first guy but the M&P 9 and 9c have worked really well for me. and would come in a close second in that price range.

Sig P228 is are great 9mm.
H&K P30 is nice but well above the price range.
Walther is a great choice also PPQ.
Sig 2022 at $399 is a great value and option.
XD or XDM 9 is also a good option.
            Ruger SR9 isnt bad either.
            CZ-75B
The Taurus line of 24/7 or Millennium pistols arent that appealing.
Sig P250 (run, run far away......although their version 2 seems to have fixed some of the earlier kinks)

Maybe go to a range with a bunch of 9mm's to rent and see what works best for you. Im always a believer in the test fire/test drive if possible before you buy. I spent 4 hrs once shooting over a dozen 9mm's. Lots of fun.

I usually say Ruger, that way you can spend the money you save on ammo.

my first 9 (after years of 45) was an XD9 (4" Service) we bought in 2010, think we've run maybe a dozen different ammos without any probs whatsoever. Just under 4,000rds so far.

Recently picked up a Glock 34, no probs at all, only 4 diff factory ammo tried so far.

If you don't want to drink the glock koolaid try looking at the

                          Springfield XD and XDm
                          also look into the Caracal
M&P has a good reputation but not really my personal preference by far.
Ruger also has some strong contenders in the 9mm line

another thing to mention not even glocks run all ammo flawlessly, the 19 gen 4 have a reputation to have issues with walmart federal ammo.
I will share my opinion and my load data, BUT I am just a guy with too many cigars and too many guns. Whatever I say is probably wrong.

Agreed. Until you get into sub-compact and micro CCW stuff, there are very few modern handguns that won't reliably feed just about anything in the correct caliber. Also, exceptions begin when you get to super high price range guns that are very tightly fitted and tuned for specific ammo power levels. But... assuming off-the-shelf guns from $300 to $1,200 that are modern designs, you're unlikely to have issues.

By the time you find an SP-01 in stock somewhere to buy, you can probably save up enough $$$ to afford it . There's also the P-01, which would work well for you and is less expensive. But yeah... M&P, FN, Ruger, Steyr, Glock, XD, EAA, Beretta, Rock Island, Bersa, H&K, Springfield, Walther, yes even Taurus, etc etc make guns with rails that are reliable and most make some in your price range.

I have a g19 + cz 75 p-01 so I have the best hammer and striker fired gun ever made... Lol

But on a real note, it's hard to find a unreliable if your spending 500+ on it in 9mm.

You will Learn to adapt to what ever gun you use, so don't turn down a glock because they feel different. I put a houge rubber grip wrap on my g19 and its like night and day. It's a very nice setup. My cz is a tack driver, vary accurate and very reliable. I never had a problem with the glock or cz. If I had to pick my fave between the two the CZ p-01 wins but that's just my preference, both are great.
