Never shot the HP25, but I owned a HP22. Was a good little handgun for the price. Was fully reliable with everything I fed it, and even with rapid fire shots. Never had a failure or miss feed of any kind. My biggest complaint was it's weight. Heavy little sucker, weighed about as much as an unloaded Glock 19. Most reviews on it will be very good, you'll hear the occasional frame crack, but with a lifetime warranty, you can't really go wrong. If you live close to the manufacturer like I do, it's even less of a worry. I ended up selling the gun.....nothing wrong with it, but just never got around to shooting it anymore. I actually recommend .22 vs .25. Not trying to start a caliber debate, but with the price of the rounds comparatively, it was no competition for me. -
No matter what you post you always get people that can't help it but to talk down to a low priced gun. $125 junk gun is better than the purse alone. Everyone starts with save a little or buy use. What if that is not a option what's so ever. He said him self that he researched it so he knows of the problems. All he asked was experiences with the gun. I know people also make up stories of owning one so who knows. I have never owned one but have read alot on them and I hear about 55% that like them. The safeties that it has is a big thing people don't like. And frame cracking from using high velocity ammo in 22.Comment

I'd rather have two Phx-22lr in an emergency than one 'quality' gun.
Chances that BOTH 98% reliable guns like Phx-22 will both jam is less than one quality gun jamming, because of some many outside factors like random bad ammo, bad loading of mags, random foreign objects, etc.Comment

It's always fun to look for the firing pin when it comes out and falls onto the floor.Comment

I own the .22 version, and I would recommend the 22 because the ammo is cheaper than buying .25 ammo, and a side by side comparison of the two cartridges that I did really did not show any difference in the size, but that is a different discussion I guess. If they have the 22 you should get that. If not then the gun is just fine and the only problems I had with it were during my break in period (I had to put like 200 rounds through it before it completely worked with no problems). Now, it is reliable and fun to shoot when you just need to go do some shooting! I have over 1000 rounds through it, I have the inter-changeable 5 inch barrel which is really accurate, and I even found the 3 inch barrel to be accurate too at 10 yards or less. I modified mine though and when you get it to the range you will see why. But now, its a cool pistol!
Sum up, it is actually really reliable and those that have cracks is because they shot high velocity ammo through it. I have yet to read a negative review actually, so I am surprised that you said you have found is inconclusive.Comment

Oh and it is single action only and I think the trigger really good for such a cheap gun. Also, you can half cock it.... if anyone ever does that for whatever reason.Comment

yeah, two jam-o-matics because.....
1)they can be in two locations
2)even Glocks can jam if you load them wrong, or get bad ammo
3)if I get disarmed by bad guy, I still have an extra weapon stashed somewhere he doesn't know about
4)Phoenix is so small you can conceal it in your big meaty hand, or ankle carry, or generally actually have it clipped to belt when around the house.
Remember when the Space Shuttle blew because while each individual seal had small chance of blowing, when you add them all up it blew "right on schedule". Like that, in reverse.Comment
