You could always SSE an XD-s if you really wanted one.

Yeah, I was referring to the single stack .45 XDs. It's not on the roster but I'm sure you could sse it somewhere.

I have been concealing the xd tactical 5" on my ccw for the last two years. I carry IWB on the front abdomen which conceals well but when I sit down, that 5" barrel puts some major pressure on "The Boys" if you know what I mean!!! Looking to buy the xd .40 subcompact but really want the XD-S single stack which is LEO. I have a relative who is LEO and thought about asking them to buy it and then do a ppt. Does anyone know what the law is for officers selling their weapons to citizens? Wouldn't want them to get into any trouble.

What you described is essentially a straw purchase. Why not just find a shop that handles SSE?

In that case, I like the Ruger LCR.

I have not been able to find any local guys that wanted to do the SSE yet. They said they haven't had enough orders yet to get the conversion parts yet.

I carry a Ruger SR9C and it's great. Have you considered the SR40C? Put a Ghost trigger kit in it and it's even better.

I have the XD sub compact .40, it seems to only come out when I'm wearing winter type clothing. My J frame and soon my P-238 get way more EDC.

                      The XD is nice tho.

There is no perfect carry gun. I have six different guns I carry. My 4" 1911 the most but a 3" 1911 and G23 & 27 also see time on the hip. PM9 and J frame see back up duty. Dress and activity dictate. Biggest thing is to have the proper gear(holster) and training.

I've long recognized that idea...I also recognize, however, that people often have a carry weapon that they feel is "perfect" for them/their situation.

While you're deciding you might as well get the Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit. You can do it thru the mail. Good in 32 States including Nevada.

I wore my Glock 29 (same frame as a G30 but in 10MM) on a recent trip to Vegas-Baby.

Too bad Glocks aren't your thing; I love my G26 for carry.

                              Good luck.

The most important aspect for me is how well I'm able to draw and shoot. I used to carry a sub compact, Glock G26, but moving my cover garment and drawing from a IWB holster was a little daunting. The issue was the short grip. I was not able to get a firm positive purchase on the grip when presenting under pressure. I tried the Pearce grip extension but then realized that the grip length was now comparable to a Glock G19. So I tried a G19 and man what a difference. The fullsize grip allowed a fast draw and I was putting hits on target more consistently than the G26. The G26 is easier/comfortable to carry but my number one concern is effectively utilizing my gun in a dire situation. The G19 is the weapon of choice for me. Sure its a little bigger than some of the other offerings but I will not choose comfort over performance. Yes it is inconvenient at times but it is a price I am willing to pay to insure my safety and the ones around me.
