    Help with Handgun Legal Question...

    My step-father passed away a few years ago. He had purchased a handgun registered in his name to protect himself and my mom. Well my mom showed it to me and asked if I would like to have it. How do I legally take possession of said handgun. Thanks in advance for any help on this.
