    Sig P226 E2 Grip Tool?

I tried searching but couldn't figure it out.

What's that tool that comes with the grip kit? It has the sig logo and looks like a bore cleaning tool.

I just installed my grips and have the newer spring from factory, but it feels funny now. Light if you will.

The hammer and decocker don't seem to function properly. I'm probably missing something.

All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The tool is actually the removal tool. Rack the slide back, lock it, jam that tool up in the mag well and twist.

As for the install, a couple of questions:
    - what spring did you change? The hammer spring should convert over, as should the decocker spring.

    - do you have the newer style "coiled" trigger spring? On the right side, going on the trigger bar, should be a looped/coiled wire, and not a bent wire. You need the newer style

    - did you have the plastic hammer/main spring seat, or the metal one? If you had the metal, then you would need a new one (spring). If you had a plastic seat, then you just change the seat to the new e2 one, and keep the spring.

Can you remove the grip and take pics?

I have the look trigger bar spring and the short main spring. My sig was the model right before the E2 change. The difference is the size of the seats and the hammer struts.

Now here's my issue. The decocker doesn't seem to be functioning correctly. It doesn't always decock the hammer and the trigger seems week.

It's almost as if the E2 grip was interfering with the trigger bar spring. I took everything back off and redid the install. It worked without the grip until I placed the grip back on.

Same issue. I removed the grip again, now its the same issue minus the grip.

Could I use my old seat and hammer strut?

make sure when putting the grips over the trigger spring that it goes over it correctly. Might be binding up there.

I'm trying to remember, but I believe that my e2 kit had a new decocking lever too. And even the grip kit from Top Gun Supply shows a new lever. Did you replace that too?

Yes. I replaced everything. I figured it out. The hammer strut wasn't in it's "sweet spot" when I was seating the spring seat into place.

The hammer actually feels MUCH stiffer than before. There was some cream colored sticky stuff when I removed the old items too.

          Might've been factory "gunk"?

I actually think the E2 grips feel cheaper than the originals. It's thinner and very plastic. I was expecting more of a polymer material to them.

Fits great in my hands though. Need to test fire now.
