    Rant: New Gun Has Problems

I just need to vent a little.

I purchased a Sig Sauer 1911 TTT on November 6, put 100 rounds through it on November 18 and then cleaned and lubed. This past Sunday, I wanted to shoot 200 rounds and when I got to 120 I noticed that my rear sight was offset to the left. I imediatly stop shooting and took it back to where I purchased it. Well it turns out they had to send the slide back to Sig and now I am told I will not have it back until well after the first of the year.

I have heard that Sig makes a good quality gun. I guess I just got unlucky.

This sucks because I was soooo looking forward to getting very familiar with this gun over the holidays since I have two weeks off.

    Oh well.

Sounds like loose sight in a dovetail. A simple enough repair that you could have accomplished with minimal guidance. You should have posted the problem with your SIG 1911 here before sending it back to the factory.

Sight offset?? Heck, they're always offset until you tweek them to your paticular eyeballs. Sending it back is really a waste because you'll have to dial it in to your paticulars anyhow.

Just a question, if it is an easy fix, then why wouldn't the shop just repair it? When I stopped by the shop with it on Sunday, the owner tried to fix and couldn't. He said that he would have the gunsmith look at it and apparently he couldn't fix it either. The owner told me, on Sunday, that returning it to Sig would be the last option (worst case).

The sight was shifted to the left, but could be pushed right by hand and the spring would push it back to the left. Do you think something could of broken inside? I am a noob and have no idea how the sight is manufactured on this pistol.

With the additional info you have now provided, it sounds like your Sig 1911 has a defective adjustable rear sight (i.e. windage blade and adjustment screw). In view of that, your rear sight must be replaced. An adjustable, target type rear sight could cost upwards of 50 to 60 bucks not counting installation. So, you're probably better off sending your pistol back to the factory for warranty repair. Initially, I was under the impression you simply had a fixed rear sight that was loose in it's dovetail.

I was too, until I Googled it

...yup, if an adjustable rear sight is loose, as you describe, it sounds like a manufacture problem. So it is likely they will be replacing it...which means getting a replacement from the manufacturer. I'm not sure who makes the sight for SIG...but it looks just like the one on my .22lr conversion kit
