SW1911 Pro Series?

Alright guys, I'm about to order a S&W 1911 Pro Series but I wanted to check and see if anyone had one on here. There really aren't any reviews on the web about this particular model, although there do seem to be favorable reviews of many other S&W 1911s out there.

I'm looking for an accurate, reliable 1911 that I can do some defensive pistol classes (shooting 500+ rounds in a day) and maybe some IDPA or IPSC practices.

Unfortunately S&W's site is down right now. I'll edit this post and put up the specs, etc. as soon as it's back up.

It looks to be pretty good value for money. I did start going up in my price range and started looking at Les Baer Custom Carry's... man, that's a sweet looking pistol. Although I think it might be a smarter option to get the S&W and maybe a Dillon 550... unless the folks on here can convince me otherwise

Are you talking about the Performance Center 1911s?
Springfield has the Professionals costing about $1K in more.

I shot a stainless 45ACP model last year and it was very good. The fit and feel was much better than my Colt Gold Cup. I haven't compared it to my Les Baer TRS yet. I just remembered it was the cheapest model with many black components cost my friend $1400.

You might have to change out the adjustable sights for competition.

Hey Mike, actually no this isn't one of the models from the Performance Center. It's called the "Pro Series" and it sits in between the production guns and the PC guns. I wish S&W's site wasn't down every Sunday... I'll post pics in the morning.

I do not see that model on the DOJ list, do you have a way around that (LEO, out of state close relative etc). It sure looks nice.

Hm, I don't know if it would be covered under:

I like it. I would buy it over the basic models. It looks like it's the basic model with better sights, and the performance center trigger job (the $85 package that included polishing the feed ramp), and the checkering. The checking I like in particular, because it's 30LPI. The PC1911 I have has 40LPI and it's a bit too fine for me. 30LPI is just right.

The base stainless model I see now are around $850. With the $85 trigger job, 30LPI checkering (probably add $100, it's machine checkering), and the sights (another $100), I would say a $1k price is very attractive.

Now they just need to get it listed ASAP.

No problem. I do not think it qualifies as that model, but give them a call because it sure is nice looking.

Man, I dunno what to do now. I called S&W and they said they didn't know & I'd have to call the DOJ. I call the DOJ and they said it would have to be specifically listed, but the other SW1911s aren't specifically listed either (just rather generic SW1911 in stainless steel/adjustable sights/etc).

I'm confused

Let me clear it for you! If you had to ask... it is not on the list.

Just get the SW1911 DK and upgrade what you need. It is still two tone.
