    XD45 reduction and Stipple

So I started with a plain jane XD45

A few weeks ago, started stippling the gun and hated the look. So I instead tried a streak job but actually hated that even more.

Ended up taking a file to the whole thing and reducing all areas of the grip, you probably cannot tell in this picture, but the grip is actually the same size now as an XD9...

    I love it!

I ended up with the golf ball style and put some Boondock Saints crosses into the handle. I always figured if I hated it that I could just put the grip tape back on (which I really really like!).

You can check out an album here with a bunch of pics of the progress. Also not really wanting to hear that stippling is dumb or whatever, I was going to get rid of the XD45 until I went through with this grip reduction, also the gun feels so planted and actually feels like its being held onto... the standard grips suck on these guns! Next up is my XD9!

    Wow, that is very different!!!
Not my cup of tea but still looks pretty cool! As long as you like it!

It was a last ditch effort with a gun I wasnt sure I liked. I destroyed the resale value so I have to like it now!

          XD9 and XD45 together

Here is the 9 layed over the 45

As you can see, they are very close in size and shape now. The 9 still has a little bit less grip (45 is fatter at the rear with a longer length of reach to the trigger).

Doesn't look too bad now compared to the XD9 grip.
Thought they were already the same size just the XD45 is a little longer?
My eyes probably can't pick it up though Hahahaha

The 45 is very blocky and thick. The price we pay to have 13 round capacity 45s!

I will pull out my stock XD45 tomorrow and take some more pics, the 45 has more of a blocky H&K USP feel to it

very interesting... I like it... The first attempt looked like a chia pet gun but I really love how it came out with the cross... excellent job!!

That's one of the things I like about plastic guns: you feel free to screw around with them. My Springfield Range Officer is superior in nearly every way to my XD-45, but I feel protective of it. Like you, I've "ruined" my XD by crazy gluing some finger grooves cut from a slip-on grip to the front strap, and improvised a lanyard ring at the heel with JB Weld and a hardware store eyelet. I've detail stripped it multiple times and installed my own trigger and sear parts, and generally tinkered with it. But the knowledge and confidence I've gained from that are well worth the loss of dollar value.

That is exactly where I am at ha ha ha I also have a SRP match grade sear, trigger bar and overtravel kit. Triji night sights, and have polished all of the triggers internals(as well as firing pin, channel, and trigger faces).

This gun is extremely good! Darn near flawless now, and the grip made me love it even more. Truth is, I will be getting a P220 Combat later this month, but the XD will always live in my heart!
