Pre Ban mags for Glock 19?

What year did the Glock 19 become available? If you already had high cap mags for it before they were banned they would be legal in CA now?

My glock 19 is from 1989, 2nd generation.
According to glock talks resources, they started appearing in 1988.

Yes, if your glock is from before the ban, you may still own and use the hi cap original mags.
Edited to say that you must have owned the hi cap mags before the ban went through.
You can't just own an early gun and go buy some.
2nd edit to say that you can use the mags from your preban glock to use in any later after ban glock.

Although there might be a question by a LEO if you have a Hi Cap mag in a later glock to show proof that you owned the mag before.
So either carry reciept of the original gun, dated preban receipt of mag, or be prepared to have the mag confiscated until you could provide proof of previous preban ownership.

EDITED FOR ALL THE NIT PICKERS!
IF IT WERE ME, I WOULD PREFER TO HAVE A BILL OF SALE TO SHOW TO ANY QUESTIONING OFFICER THAT I OWNED THE MAG BEFORE THE BAN, OR A BILL OF SALE OF THE ORIGINAL PREBAN GLOCK THAT IT CAME WITH. THAT MIGHT SAVE A LOT OF TROUBLE OR EVEN ARREST!
THIS IS JUST MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION, AND NOT THE LAW!
There, I hope everyone is happier now.

If your Glock is made AFTER the ban, you may FULLY use any hi-caps you owned prior to 1/1/2000. Manufacture date of the gun has nothing to do with it, only ownership date of the mags.

It is also the burden of the state to prove you got the mags after 2000, not your burden to prove you had them before. Obviously, if the mag is for some pistol that wasn't available before 2000/1994, you should not have hi-caps for it (i.e. XD series, HK30, HK45).

+1000.... I had some "know it all" maroon try to tell me and 4 other Calgunners that you can't use Highcaps at ALL anymore, and especially not in a gun made after 2000... We just kinda tuned Capt. Idiot out and went about our convo lol...

My old FFL (they gave up their 07 after the CA DOJ kept auditing them or something) used to insist it was illegal to use my preban hicaps in a post 2000 rife or pistol....

Dont spread mis info please LOL....

I bought mines in '89. I've sold it but I still have the mags. One normal 15 rounder and two with the extra 2 round extension.

Lots of people bought many mags for the guns the planned to buy in the future back in 1999. It was a good year for folks selling magazines, and remember back then they were "pre-ban" so a Glock 17 mag wasn't $19.95 it was more like $49.95 and up if you could find some for sale.
                  where are my pistol mags?

I had hit the gun shows prior to 1994 and SB23 hitting 1/2000, just to stock up on mags over 10 rounds. I bought dozens of mags at the time where I didn't own the guns but knew I might some day. many, many various Glock, HK, G3, FALs, AK variant and other mags because I had a feeling I would get to use them one day. And then along comes off list lowers. man was I smart.

Huh? What makes you think that is required or necessary? Burden of proof is on the state. Probably best to just delete that post. It's more confusing with each edit.

                        Indeed.

Burden of proof is on the state. They have to prove you didn't own the large capacity magazine before the ban date.

                            Back off guys!
I stated my opinion only. If you read the fine type MIGHT.
Each case is different, and up to the officer you are dealing with. Not all LEOs are as versed in the laws as you knowedgeable folks, and I'm not planning to get into a legal argument with any officer that stops me with my hi cap mag.

So my ADVICE(not the law) was to carry a bill of sale showing that you owned the mag before the ban, or a gun that it went with. This would ensure that you can back up the facts on the spot.

The fact that the state must prove that you did not own the mag before the ban) does not mean the officer cannot confiscate your mag and force you to go to court to get it back, costing you some time and money.

The idea that you are innocent until proven guilty is legally correct, but a fairy tale in real life!

All this advice was given to me by the chief firearms instructor (LEO as well) for the sheriffs department in my last CCW update class, so take or leave it, but do not tell me I cannot state my opinion, which the word MIGHT implies. Please get off your high horses.
Or don't come crying to me when that officer takes your hi cap mag away.
Trying to get your hi cap mag out of the lockup room might be harder than you think. That proof of ownership just might save you that trouble!

I don't think there is any danger of losing your mags as simple possession is NOT illegal according to CA law. Can't buy, load, trade, or import high caps, but possessing them is NOT illegal.

What would you be charged with?
