Will wait and see if their frame manufacturing holds up to full-house loads. If it does take abuse I will probably get one.
I am a little concerned about the company saying insane things about spring weights - apparently they set the gun up for "FBI Loads" (40 SS&W equivalents) and not for actual 10mm Auto loads (original Norma).
That could cause serious long-term problems. Or not-so-long-term if the frame cracks.
I looked for a while and found no answer to the pressure question. It looks like they designed it for low-pressure rounds - in which case it does me no good.Comment

I am shooting a RIA 1911 GI with modified 400 Corbon load. 180grn going over 1511fps. It is heavily springed with 28lb recoil and 30lb main and square FPB. Empty cases drop nicely in a group 1ft to my right and 2ft to rear.
250+ rounds so far, and the frame is holding up without any stress marks. I'll wait and see how many rounds it will eventually take.
In theory, properly springed, the frame should do fine. It is however trouble some that RIA recommends 16lb for 10mm though.

Most 10mm have no issues with cracked frames now adays. Hell if glock can make one I would hazard a gues it's not an issue anymore LOL."Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

Negolien - Hate to say it, but Glock is pretty much the one to beat when it comes to durable 10mm pistols. There's been a lot of people that feed their G20/G29 a constant diet of thermonuclear loads, many of them on the stock barrel, to boot. Half the secret is that the flexible frame buffers the sudden shock, taking up the forces and distributing them. The other half is that the big, blocky slide and thick, barrel (designed for a .45 bore) has plenty of mass to keep it locked up longer and bring down slide velocity.
That said, I'm hoping this RIA turns out to be a tough and reliable gun... I've been tossing around the idea of a full size 1911 in 10mm.Comment

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

The "problem" with the first Colt 10mm's was not the frame it was the terrible spring setup and tuning,
which caused huge undue battering of the slide to the frame.
If you use a 20# recoil spring, a 26# or 28# mainspring and replace the stock beveled firing pin stop plate
with a FLAT firing pin stop plate you can shoot the heaviest loads with impunity causing no damage.
ALSO using +10% power magazine springs really takes the tuning and function of the 1911 10mm to the
maximum of reliability and smooth operation.Last edited by CD MCKINNEY; 01-31-2013, 5:05 PM.Comment

It's tempting... but will it make the DOJ list? Probably not...
Pretty grips though. Just like the ones on my 2011 (for sale).
