    My First 1911!

Finally took home my first 1911, Kimber custom ll. I put black/grey VZ Operator 2 grips on it and I absolutely love them! Any tips on how to break this gun in? Thanks!

1000 rounds of 230 grain hard balls should do the trick. congrats and enjoy that 1911.

Congrats! Shoot, a lot. Or give it to me, and I'll break it in for you. I'll get it back to you in a couple years.

Field strip it slap some grease on the slide, rails, disconnector and track then go shoot it!

Not sure why you'd buy a gun if you were worried about "horror stories", but just shoot it a lot. You should be fine. It's a durable, reliable platform. It's also easy to hot rod, which is where most problems come from. And magazines have been in production for over a century, from literally hundreds of suppliers; that'll be the weak point. Find some that work and drop free, and you're good to go.

Did you hear these horror stories on the internet? Don't believe everything you read on the internet where 12 year old boys and girls some how become a genius.

Here's how I broke in my Custom II, I shot steel cased Tulammo since day 1 and its been 100% reliable. Just enjoy the gun and don't worry about breaking it in. If its working, then leave it at that.
