    thank U

DW gets pretty good reviews, in general. They haven't been in the 1911 game that long, and aren't as well known as other newcomers like S&W, so it takes a while when there are lots of big players out there.

Here's some good reading on them:

There is not alot of Dan Wesson models on the DOJ list that can be purchased in CA. They are a good guns and don't have the safty junk on them, so that is a plus.

I have 3 of them. You can look them up on other fourms, and there is even a fourm that has a section just for Dan Wesson 1911's

They make both revolvers and pistols. Which are you looking at?

Edited to add: Here is their website for more info on the Pointman Seven

I have a Dan Wesson Bobtail Commander 45 ACP pistol that is the best fit 1911 that I have handled (I have handled S&W 1911, Sig GSR, Kimbers, Springfiled Armory 1911's and Colts). It shoots like a dream...accurate and light crisp trigger.

I liked the Bobtail model so much that I bought the other 1911 Dan Wesson model on the CA list...the pointman 7. The pointman shoots ever bit as good as my Sig GSR. However it has adjustable target type sights and the barrel is not ramped for hollow points. It gets hung up on hollow point and flat nose bullets but shots the round nose stuff just fine. It is more of a range gun. The Bobtail Commander eats hollow points without a glitch.

I have a factory ported S.A. V-12 5" 1911 that is very accurate but has the same feed issues at the Dan Wesson Pointman 7.

The Dan Wesson I bought were LNIB (used) and each were bought for around $700.

like any 1911 manufacture including Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, Night Hawk, & of course Dan Wesson. The majority of their 1911s are good from the factory, but there's a chance that you might get one that you have to tinker with to make it 100% reliable. Especially if they're fitted tight, some may loosen up after a break in period some may not.

1911 from the factory are hit or miss regardless of manufacturer, period.

They're beautiful, built solid, use excellent Ed Brown. Their fit and finish is fantastic. They're available in your choice of finish, as long as you like brushed stainless .

I think the only reason you don't hear more about them is that not too many shops carry them, they have a more unknown name and they haven't been around long enough for the word of mouth to saturate down.

Get one - you won't be disappointed. For the money I don't think there's a better 1911, IMHO.

My brother has an early '80s Model 15

Beautiful, accurate, handgun. The only thing that is odd is the cylinder release latch is in front of the cylinder. Those familiar with all the other large makers are a little confused at first.

I also have a model 15 DW .357 magnum revolver that I bought from a fellow calgunner for $185. Not sure how how old it is, but since it was manufactured in Monson, MA I'm guessing it's pretty old. It's my new cheap shooter since my neighbor is kind enough to sell me .38 special for $5 box of 50. Still haven't shot it closer than 100 yards since I'm too lazy to move my target at the rifle range, so I can't give you much on accuracy other than you can hit the target at 100 yards using holdoff fairly easily on SA. The interchangeable barrels seem kinda neat, but I don't see any need for anything other than 4".

Dan Wesson 1911s are excellent! I have a the bobtail classic and it is better in quality than any of the SA loaded,Kimber II,S&W 1911,or may be GSR around the $1K range.

Most people have never heard of Dan Wesson.
