Save yourself a few bucks and get the GSG 1911-22. Only difference between the two are grip panels. It's is made for Sig by GSG. Something like over 80% of the parts are 1911 compatible so lots of modding potential. http://cwaccessories.com has some aftermarket parts for it as well to help improve accuracy. Out of the box, it is plenty accurate. If you already have a 1911 in 45, this 22 makes perfect sense.

Here is mine with VZ grips. Mainspring housing shown is stock, it now has a flat one.

A few bucks more for the SIG rollmark and grips are not bad, so depends on preference and market price difference

Only held one, pretty light weight than expected because of the metal they use.
Some net chatter about the GSG kabooms deter me, but there are pleanty that are trouble free.

Just another option, GSG does sell the upper only.
It saw it on sale a few weeks ago at Plamentto for 150, now its 200.

          If you're a sig fanboy, I guess.

I had a GSG1911-22 and was not impressed. Accuracy was decent and it was fairly reliable, but fit and finish left a lot to be desired. The thumb safety broke and me and dealing with their CS was a PITA. I just ended up selling it.

I now have a Ruger SR22 and a Smith & Wesson MP22 and prefer those by far. Reliable, accurate, with good fit and finish. I do suppose, however, that I'd prefer a 1911-22 over a conversion kit.

I have the GSG version and love it. Probably my current gun to shoot!

I've tried both the Sig and GSG 1911-22s. I'd recommend the Sig, hands-down. For some reason, the GSG had too many FTEs and the slide would never lock back after emptying the magazine. On the other hand, the Sig gave me no problems.

The GSG you tried was either out of spec or dirty. Both guns are identical expect for the grips and brand marks. Both guns are made by GSG.
