    CZ75 SP-01 SHADOW TARGET

Lots of people here on Calguns speaking highly of the CZ75 SP01.

I own a CZ97B, a CZ40B and a couple of Colt Z-40s (CZ40B - but D/A only) so I can imagine why; well made guns, good ergonomics, not costly, reliable.

So last week, Gun Test magazine arrives in the mail and they have a great review of the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow model. Their top-rated handgun of 2012. Not surprised. I was just reading here on Calguns similar speak, highly rated, no bad issues.

Now I am intrigued, and the comments, reviews, and feedback are positive from various sources and anyone that has owned, tested, or handled one. I have never seen such positive uniform agreement about a single gun in a while, probably not since the H&K USP.

And it keeps popping up, really ubiquitous. I am thinking of getting one, but the standard model on the roster is not going to cut it for me know there are other options (and there are). So, does Anyone have a confirmed source and CA dealer that would be able to SSE a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow Target model? PM me the info if you so. Looking for someone in the Southern CA area, prefrably Los Angeles.

    Thanks in advance.

I got mine SSE'd at Valkyrie but any dealer with a barrel should be able to do it no problem. I just ordered mine direct from CZ Custom. Great pistol, I am sure that it will stay with me for a very long time.

Did you tell CZ Custom that the pistol will be for SSE when you order? On its website, some models are stated not to be shipped to California because they are not on roster.

Send them an e-mail. I asked a few months ago and they said that they are very ok with SSE's.

I totally understand that some folks would never be interested in going this route, but upgrading a standard SP-01 to SP-01 Shadow Target specs can actually be done for less than the price difference between the two models (and a lot less when SSE adds another hundred bucks). The exception is how the rear sight is cut into the slide... getting the slide machined for that probably wouldn't be worth the cost. You can put the same style fully adjustable rear sight on an SP-01, it just won't be recessed the little bit that they are on the Shadow. All of the other trigger, hammer, grips, target sights, no firing pin block, etc, can be done to Shadow spec or better.

Although the new Accu Shadow is kinda nifty : http://czcustom.com/cz75sp01accushadow.aspx

Thanks; I've bought directly from, and done a few PPTs at OC Armory, many times. Haven't been down there in a few months, so maybe it's time to make a trip.

That was my plan, until I found out removing the FPB is not legal for production in USPSA. I assume most people buy a shadow to compete. If you have no intention on competing in production, then I would go the build your own route, and I would go single action only with the czcustom flat trigger.

Yes, it may take a phone call or two to get them to do it but once I got the right person on the phone and explained the situation it was all good. I also asked them to swap the mags for 10 rounders and they did that for me with no charge or hassle.

For me, I would have gone that route but SP-01s were impossible to find at the time when I bought mine. I dont think much has changed, they are still hard to find right now so buying one of the shadows is easier since they are almost always in stock.

I bought a customized SP-01 (NOT SHADOW) that had the FPB removed, but I had the FPB put back in so I could use it for production in USPSA. In reality, nobody would have noticed at the club level ever, but if you're going to play the game, you should play by the rules, even though it makes no sense that the SP-01 Shadow is allowed but an SP01 non-shadow can't have the FPB removed. Maybe I could have just kept the FPB out and paid to have the word "Shadow" etched into my slide?

Just curious; what kind of cost differences are hovering between the regular SP-01 approved for CA and the SP-01 Shadow Target? Searching online doesn't help because most sales of the SP-01 Shadow Target are outside the country of California, so not a comparable price.

Best sale on the regular SP-01?

Typcial price on the Sp-01 Shadow Target, including SSE and hoop jumping?
