14 hours until new Kimber

Put a ultra pro on layaway before Thanksgiving, drosed it 10 days ago, but my dealer makes customers wait 11 days instead of 10. They make up for it though by letting you dros it when you put it on lay a way. Anyway, this has been the longest wait, and the most expensive firearm I have purchased. It took my local dealer almost a year to get his order delivered. I didn't mean to buy it. It just happened like falling in love.

Dont invest in Kimber spring tune-up kits. There are better options. Kimber Pro's should use, imho, the Wolff #32725 recoil spring. Wolff is the de facto standard for 1911 springs. Wilson Combat sells high quality flat wire springs if you prefer those.

In regard to magazines, if you have an aluminum frame 1911 you want to use a skirted/contained/anti-tilt follower that wont chew up the bottom of the feed ramp of your pistol when the last round feeds. Tripp Research Cobra Mags, Chip McCormick Power Mag Plus, and Wilson Combat ETM's meet these requirements. Personally I prefer the Cobra Mags.

I have owned my CDP pro for over 11 years always use wolf springs when it's time to replace. As much as I like my Kimbers own four of them, I dislike their mags. I truly believe that over half of the problems you read about people having with a new Kimber would go away if they would just give people a decent mag with their new gun. Like redcliff I recommend Tripp mags.

congrats OP! there are plenty of Kimber haters out there, but i'm definitely not one of them. i went from a Custom II to a TLE/RL II with absolutely no regrets. i have no doubt you'll love your Kimber too.

I loved shooting my old Kimber TLE.

Only thing I didn't like was the oxidizing barrel, and the matte finish that wore easily.
