    Ruger LCR 357

I'm considering getting a ruger LCR 357. I'm just wondering if anyone has one as their carry gun or ccw gun and what do you think of it.

I have the .38 version - slighty lighter. Pocket carried it for 3 days in Vegas, my wife didnt even know until we were getting ready to head back to CA and she asked why I hadnt had any alcohol. Carries really well and I shot pretty good with it.

I just sold mine. Had the .38 model. Good gun, went bang every time at the range. Get the bantam/boot grip and it makes an excellent pocket carry. I usually carried mine like that in a DeSantis Nemesis holster, also worked great for IWB carry. If I did it over again I would have gotten the slightly heavier 357 model, mine was a bit punishing at the range with .38 +P loads.

This is what I gathered from a few days of Google Search and dry firing experience:
        • Really smooth double action trigger
        • Inside of the grip rattles when shaken due to the transfer bar
        • .357 version is built a bit stronger (and heavier) due to the pressure of the cartridge
        • .357 version's ejector rod has trouble pushing .357 cartridges out because of its inherent length
        • Comfy grip (gel in certain areas), but its stickiness to clothing can be a hindrance in CCW situations
And on the third day, God created the Remington bolt-action rifle so that man could fight the dinosaurs. And the homosexuals.

The factory bantam/boot grip solves this, but it becomes a little less comfy to shoot. Give and take, as with everything in life.

I have the .38spl model, and I felt the Bantam/boot grip really didn't feel that good in my hand, where the grip didn't feel as secure.

While the Hogue grip was the best feeling, IMO the CTC laser grips also worked very well since it had a little bit more curve to it than the Bantam grips but still very slim for concealment. Not to mention, the front sight is garbage in low light situations.

IMO, either get a CTC laser and/or a new front sight, like the XS big dot with the LCR. Only thing is your POI may be slightly off with the taller sight so you will want to practice a lot with it. With the CTC laser, target acquisition was very fast & easy for me. Just hold on tight and press the trigger.

I compared the LCR with the S&W 486. I shot better with the LCR. In the end, though, I went for extreme lightweight and got a S&W 340PD.

Another .38 guy here; great little "get off me!'" revolver, imo.

                  Doesn't the .357 model also shoot .38?

I have the LCR357 and it's a good carry gun in my view. I carry it as a primary or secondary pistol and can't complain.

I shoot a lot of +P Remington 158gr LSWC HP in my S&W M49 and a lot of 357 125gr JHP in my Ruger GP-100. OMG I could not imagine shooting 357 in an LCR! OUCH!

                      Cheers,
