P22 legality

Love my 3.4" P22 after the fixes in the "P-22 bible" over on Rimfirecentral.

As for accuracy, mine is just fine. I can tag .45 cases off the target stands at 15 yards in 1-2 tries each.

S&W is awesome on their warranty should you need it if/when the slide breaks after ~20k rounds.

why cant you buy the 3.4 inch barreled version?

In the city of LA, and its suburbs (Northridge, Reseda, etc.) the sale of "ultra compact" firearms is prohibited. Any handgun less than 6.75" long or 4.5" tall is considered ultra compact. The 3.4" bbl version is only 6.3" long, thus cannot be sold in LA city.

That being said you can posses an "ultra compact" handgun in LA city, you'll just have to drive a bit further to purchase one.

Go with a Ruger or a Buckmark. I think they are much better pistols than the P22.
