80% AOW AMD-65 build

I'm wanting to do an AMD-65 pistol with a 12.5" kit. My understanding of the process is this:

1. Establish NFA Trust
2. Apply for NFA treasury stamp for an AOW
3. Once approved by BATF the AOW may be built

Is this correct?

I believe you can run the AMD without the forward pistol grip, and it would not be classified as an AOW. You would just have to run a BB and use 10 round mags.

Of course if you do want to run that front pistol grip and let big brother know what you have, then yes you do have the process correct.
