    XDS trigger reset problem

Has anyone seen this on their XDS, or maybe it's not specific to this model but it's the only one I have seen with the issue.

When I am at slide lock and I put in a new mag and press the slide release, the gun loads a round and goes into battery, but once or twice out of 5 times the trigger doesn't reset. Just looking at it you can see it is "cocked" back and I have to pull the slide back about 1/4" or so (like a press check) to reset the trigger.

Then when I do that the slide doesn't go fully into battery by itself (when I let go of it)- I must tap it on the back to make it go all the way forward. It's like it is getting hung up a little bit on something. It doesn't take much force to overcome it, just a tap will do.

I don't have any other issues with the gun- feeding, ejecting, etc. are all fine. During normal firing the trigger always resets properly.

Do these symptoms sound familiar to anyone?

If this doesnt make sense I can do some more testing and take some pictures. Thx...

My XDS is in jail currently, But my buddy has one and we put at least 100 rounds through it friday without that problem. I too think it should be addressed by SA

Hrm, I don't have the issue you describe (not resetting the trigger when chambering a round using the slide lock). I would give SA a call for that.

It is pretty widely reported on XDTalk's forums and YouTube that the XDS will not return to battery after a press check without some "encouragement" by the user. To my knowledge, SA has neither acknowledged this as an issue nor made any efforts to change it.

Thanks all, I will call SA tomorrow. I noticed today that the trigger actually sticks back every time when I dry fire. When I live fire that doesnt happen though. Strange.

I think the trigger is supposed to stick back when you dry fire, at least until you've cycled the slide back far enough to reset it. Since the slide cycles on its own during live fire, you don't have enough time to notice that the trigger is waiting for the slide to cycle.

Also why are you using the slide stop to release the slide. you should be slingshotting the slide back. :P

Springfield specifically instructs users (both in the manual and when speaking with customer service) to release the slide on the XD-S using the slide release lever. I personally hand rack it and have never had a problem with chambering the first round, but apparently many XD-S owners don't fully overcome the recoil spring when racking the slide by hand and wind up with a misfeed because they're not pulling the slide back far enough, which then causes them to call up SA claiming that their gun is defective because it won't chamber the first round.

Yes- when you unload the gun it is very hard to eject the round in the chamber. The slide comes back part way and you need to do an extra push to overcome the recoil spring.

Can you post the problems? I researched it really good and didn't find anything out of the norm from typical Internet forums.

Same here. I had the money and had a potential seller, but I read too many problems and lost confidence for it to be a CCW gun.
