Semi-auto handguns not polymer

Got a friend interested in buying a semi-auto handgun - prefer non-polymer frames. Can people name of some models that have the lower frame that is metal not polymer? To enhance the shopping list - thanks.

All I know are 1911s, the Sigs not incuding the SP2022.

Browning Hi-Power is (IMHO) a definite to look at. I have also shot a Beretta 92FS/M9 - All metal but it didn't do that much for me...

Suggest something you would buy easily in a local gunstore today used or new in metal frame of course and could be one of these calibers 9mm, .40S&W, and 45acp under $1K.

The friend has shot polymer and metal rentals but shot better in all the metal/alloy frame ones. That is why the preference. I shoot better w/the SIG P220, P229 than I did Glocks, HK USPs and my own SIG SP2022.

If you want a metal gun then go with a CZ 75B or 1911 in 9mm. You can get a Rock Island 1911 for about $650 OTD. You want to make sure that the metal frame is the reason why he is shooting better. If his experience is limited then you want to have him shoot more guns to confirm that. To be more specific, striker fired polymer framed guns like Glocks and XDs have a much heaver trigger compared to a metal, hammer fired gun like 1911s and CZs.

I don't know what your dang local gun store has in stock!?!?! Go there and find out? Go to the three closest to you, look at what they have in stock and look at the prices, then choose a gun from one of them? I don't understand what any of us can do sitting at our computers (or you, for that matter) dozens or hundreds of miles away. Heck, CALL your local gun shops and ask them! BUT... I can guarantee the answer will be, "Well sh*t, son, we have dozens and dozens of metal-frame guns under $1,000 and I'm not going to waste my time and your time just rattling them all of. Come down and check them out."

I mean, you've basically described the most common class of handgun ever made. Any gun store with any guns in stock at all is going to have some that match what you are looking for. I mean, your "friend."

I think the CZs look like a good bet. I've shot a CZ target model and it was sweet, aim, shoot, hit target. Forgot about those.

Another vote for CZ. Best metal pistol there is IMO.
