    Scored a Smith 64-5

Scored me a pre-lock Model 64...have to work out a time to PPT this baby.

Happy as can be, especially considering the price for it here in CA...

Are you LEO? I've seen those and was in tears because it stated not available for sale in CA. How did you do it?

Private Party Transfer...you guys all know about the PPT right?

Added: You'll see he won't sell it because it isn't on the list...which doesn't matter if it can be PPTed.

Did you ask the seller if they were willing/able to do a ppt?

I was assuming he covered that already. Hmmm....

Man, I don't even browse Gunbroker for non-listed guns because the probability of finding a local seller for PPT is so small. But, maybe I should start. No one in a free state would be crazy enough to bid what a PPT Californian would bid for a non-listed gun. Unless two local CA-residence go into a bidding war, it should be an easy score.

Glad it worked out for you!

                    My fiirst question is always:

Are you selling as a dealer or an individual?

This applies to both listed and non-listed (I have 2 guns still on hold for the stupid 1 gun per 30 day rule) so I can determine if I want to bid or not.

I'm sorry you purchased this gun, as you will not be allowed to actually pick it up - it's owned by High Bridge Arms and is not for sale to a private citizen. How do I know? This is how:

I was on top of that 64-5 the minute it hit GB and chased it down, I've been watching the auction since then and saw how the price jumped up from $290 today alone. I suggest you contact them immediately and see about canceling your win before too much time passes.

When I contacted them, I was told it was on consignment...we'll see what the deal is, but I'm hoping I didn't talk to someone who spread some FUD.

For you, I really hope it is - and if it is, please let me know (PM is fine). If it's consignment and I could have purchased it, I'm going to go there in person and light a fire under somebody's *** for lying to me *twice* (once in email and once on the phone when I double-checked).

Employees at the same gunshop are great at giving different answers to different people...looks like no matter what they'll be hearing from one of us.

I'll PM you when I figure out what's what. Thanks for bringing this to my attention before I make the drive all the way out to SF for what is potentially nothing.

Sure thing, thanks. In return, here's a gem right in your neighborhood: there's a Model 66-1 4" (pinned, recessed) sitting at Contra Costa Collectibles, it went on the shelf just about a week ago. They're asking $575 on the tag, I just manhandled it this afternoon.
