    m&p 45 / xd 45

Just would like an opinion from the people that have both or fired both of these guns. I tried searching the forums about this topic .. but i could not find anything.. but im sure that many people have been in my situation where they cannot decide on which one of these two firearms.. I am interested in the fullsize m&p 45 and the springfield xd 45. I want to make a purchase soon but I am stuck on which one to get. Thanks in advanced for all your opinions!

Shot both, I own the m&p 45. Just feels better in the hand and the bore is lower. Its almost exactly the same size as a glock17. Not too big at all.

i like my Xd .45 so much, i'm buying a second one
              smoothest .45 i've ever shot...honestly.
the grip safety is another huge plus.
If you suck with irons you will suck with optics. The difference is the aimpoint will allow you to suck faster and a scope will give you a closer look at how much you suck.

After trying every different pistol I could get my hands on.

                  I settled on a FS M&P in .45 & couldn't be happier.

From all the reviews I've read and watched the M&P is a superior handgun.

Lower bore axis, better ergonomics, better customer service/warranty, better durability, and made in America.

                      M&P wins by a mile.

Sw does not have a better warranty than springfield. They both are just about the only 2 manufacturer in the world that stands behind thier firearms.

Better durability, I don think so. They both are close to one another, but FYI, the mp frame is not nearly as tough as xd's/glocks. Ask Johnny Rowland why the mp couldnt hold up to .460 rowland pressures.

Better ergo's is just a personal opinon of an individual. Its highly a debatable subject

Bore axis, well another personal opinion. Why, bcuz the felt recoil of either gun is based on the prefference of the shooter. The difference of the recoil is really not nearly as much as what the fanbois make it out to. And not just that, there are other factors that are involved with recoil. This is also a highly debated subject especially on the internez forums.

So bottomline Op, u need to go out and try them both to see which one U Like, not wut da internez commandos tell u. Anytime this topic comes up, the fanbois will show up and post. You just need to understand and dont just jump in their bandwagon just becuz they to d u so. Mp, xd, glock are all not a bad choice to pick. Those three plastic guns have been competing side by side for awhile. Just like how the subaru wrx has been to the mitsubishi evo.

Full Disclosure: I own an XD45 and have only shot an M&P45 once. My XD45 has a PRP Drop-in Trigger kit, which is fantastic. I also have an XDM9 and generally love Springfields.

I love my XD45. It's smooth, accurate, quick with follow up shots, and fits my hand like a glove. It's my HD gun which sits in a quick-open GunVault next to my bed with a TLR-1 on the front. I would trust my life to it.

I hear great things about the M&P but just can't get into them myself. They feel a little uncomfortable to me and the extra steps for take down aren't appealing. I'm sure they're fine pistols, but other than getting something different, I see no reason to replace any of my Springfields.

If you can, fire both at a rental place to get a feel for each. Worst case, go to a gun store and at least handle/fondle each of them to get an idea of which fits you best.

I've shot both. I like the xd45 mroe than the M&P45. But I think the Glock 21sf is better than both of them. I do not own any of those guns so i'm not being biased.

my kimber shoots better than those three
